A disgusting sport and spectacle.

Unfortunately (for me) I’m a big fan of boxing.

Every time something like this happens I ask myself ‘is this a sport I really want to continue to support?’ But I’m always drawn back to it.

These kind of events are tragic. And they happen too often. I know all the arguments about ‘boxers knowing the risk’ but I’m not sure that makes it ok.

I’m very torn about it.

I imagine if the guy knew this would happen and could take a mulligan, he'd probably live his life the same way again. All boxers know the risks. Unlike bullfighting, where the bull has no choice. Ban that, sure. But boxers know the risks and take the choice. Otherwise where do we stop? Ban American football because of so many serious head injuries? Ban heading a football for similar reasons? Ban baseball because it's terminally boring? Lawn Darts are already illegal in the US ffs!

In your opinion fair enough but why would you want to control what another person enjoys when both know the risks and it is a lucrative livelihood at the top. As others have said you could extend your worries to basically any activity with some form of health risk.

Time for this barbaric theatre of blood to be banned once and for all.

No, I’m a fan of a sport where two consenting individuals pit themselves in a physical contest against one another.

I dislike some of the potential, but very rare, consequences of this sport.
