McTomminay cant pass for sh!t and I thought this was supposed to be Longstaffs strength. Certainly the range of it.
From the very little I’ve seen of him, he didn’t really play like McT.

He's an ok passer of the ball, but again, compare him to the players City, Real, Barca, Bayern, Juve have in their teams and it's laughable we're after him

they all started somewhere, their teams are full of players plucked from smaller clubs in their leagues.
Don't really know much about him, but from what I've read he was supposed to be a Carrick-type player? Surely that would indicate nothing like McT.
The £50m valuation appears to have put us off him anyway.

The lads 22 in October and played 9 premier league games last season. We're not talking about an outstanding player here, he's no way near good enough for us or the standards we should be setting.
AWB had an outstanding season and had the best defensive stats of any full-back in Europe's top five leagues last season and he still got some pre-signing abuse.
It would be an incredibly incredibly dissapointing signing
Unless he worked out. Petsonally Id at least watch him for ten plus games.
Statistically they are very similar in terms of what they contribute but in the pod they do note that longstaff is a lot more static and has a better range of passing
He's more of a screener whereas mctominay is more B2B
Underlying point is that 50m is madness
I think we should pursue with McT at DM, he's impressed me towards the end of last season, he's much more mobile than Matic which is a plus.
We just need that third CM to compliment McT and Pogba
We're not buying Longstaff, in fact our window is done imo.

When i saw Newcastle spunking 40m on a goal shy striker i thought, well there must have been a breakthrough with Longstaff to United.
Ashley doesn't spend that type of cash.
Yeah I don’t get it either, he’s basically McTominay with a long ball on him.
I think fans who had never heard if him until 6 weeks ago, but have now looked at some stats and youtube videos, are much better placed to judge him than Manchester United football club.
*sarcasm detector alert*
Jeez, just chill. its not your money so stop being so negative. Clearly we've seen something in him and he's been on our radar. New signings can be a success or a failure. Just see if we sign him and judge him on performances.

That £40m Brazilian that nobody has heard of will be to replace Perez who Newcastle for £30m for.
I'm not convinced we are in for him anyway. Seems to be one of the left field stories you get every year about United that comes to nothing.

They sold Joselu and Ayoze, didn’t sign Rondon and look likely to sell Dwight Gayle as well.
Oh I think you were definitely sniffing around
Fits the type of player you've clearly been looking to bring in
I’ve asked a few times on here “is he any better than McTominay?” because judging from the highlights of Newcastle games, he doesn’t appear to be.
I think McTominay should be a box-to-box player in a three with a ball playing “screener” type DM, and Pogba (or someone else...) as an ACM, nice balance.
Anyway, 50 million for Longstaff is bonkers, saturation point if anyone was to pay that

The primary point im making is why are we trying to sign a player that isn't remotely proven, is already similar to a player we have an doesn't fit the ambition of the club?
You're also right, it's not 'my money' but we also as a club have to operate within financial parameters and if we spend alot of money on a naff player, we're not going to progress as a club.
We, unfortunately, do not have unlimited money
They're not similar though, that seems to be what the people that have watched him are saying. They perform different roles in midfield.
And for 'not matching the ambition of the club', how the hell are you likely to know that more so than our manager/scout if they've been following him and decide they want him?
Apparently Longstaff has an excellent range of passing. If Ole wants quick transitions and counter attacking football McT simply doesnt have that in his locker. Fvck money.
Excellent range of passing is often a nice way of dressing it up for a player being able to ping a long ball.
