This article is all over the place!

A high pressing system requires pressing as a team from the entire team (minus the GK) and they should know exactly what their roles are and when to press. Klopp and Pep play this system, but as said, it requires everyone know what to do and when. And that requires a lot of time to get that settled in and oiled. Pep and Klopp have been doing this for years and their teams are basically 3-4 years together.

If Ole starts to implement this now, then you can write of coming season and build towards results in the next season.

Write it off, why?

No sensible fan will be on his back. It is the managers job to identify players, it is not his job to close the deal.

Again, Ed ' clueless' Woodward is messing around with another manager. He is incompetent at transfers and needs to go.

Write if off as in not winning trophies. Even Pep failed in his first season at City implementing his high pressing system.

We're not expecting a title race anyway, and there's no reason to write off the domestic cups or a top 4 place, or the Europa.

Surely the manager "okay'd" the contracts being given to Young, Smalling, Jones though, I just don't get that at all!!!!

I was really hoping we would follow up on Ole's comments when he said we would be 'ruthless' when it came to players leaving the club.

We haven't. We should have got rid of Rojo and Darmian for example even for cut price fees.

There is only so much Ole can do in one window, especially when you are getting quoted £80m for Maguire and have no lure of CL football.

I’m sure he would love to get rid of Sanchez, but no one will touch him with a barge pole considering his wage. Real Madrid can’t get rid of Bale for similar reasons

Did you read anything of what I said? If Ole starts with a high pressing game now, which requires a lot of discipline and everyone knowing what to do and when and great fitness, then you might not get the results you want in the first season of it being implemented.

I think fans would hope that would be the case but United are as dysfunctional as they come at the moment.

Could quite easily see a situation in which he was missed out entirely and Ed signed it off because of their "value" on a spreadsheet.

Yes I read it I just don't agree with it. I think even with looking at a new style of play, there is still reason to believe that achieving top 4 and possibly doing something in a domestic cup or the Europa is not beyond the realms of possibility.

3 players from the Fergie era with title winning experience. They are not the best footballers anymore, but I would imagine that they are model pros, know what it means to be a United player and are 100% committed, therefore Ole can count on them - contrast to Sanchez and Martial

Fair enough, you will found out soon enough.

Just don't know if your back line is good enough for high press football. You'll leak a lot of goals if they aren't. And oppo teams will exploit that weakness, especially the top 5 teams (you don't play yourselves) which makes a top 4 finish a hard task again.

Not having any of that, they wouldn't get into any top 6 side, maybe not even top 8/10

Smalling would get in plenty sides in the top 10

All 3 of them were parts in our side that finished 2nd 2 years ago.

They're not good enough, but fackinell people go overboard.

Look at the defenders getting picked to play for England, and look at the clubs they play for...

Smalling is better than the majority of defenders that play for England. Southgate just doesn't fancy him.

He has also requested CB. You can increase contracts and still ship the player.

Maguire scoring a trademark slabheader yesterday in pre-season, De Ligt putting Juve 1-0 down with a debut own goal against Inter an hour ago.

Get the deal done Ed.

Maguire > De Ligt
