Lets go with 'better' 1982. Because it is.

No idea what OGS sees in Matic.

Not sure he does see much in him? McT has started in that role in most of the pre-season games and done plenty enough to suggest he will be a starter over Matic.

I think he'll come in against Chelsea and look like he's been a United defender for years

Misplaced passes, nervous wreck and then stretchered off

If Juve still want Lukaku I wouln't mind Pjanic being included in any deal.

It still wouldn't completely surprise me though if we saw Dybala sign before the window closes.

I have a picture in my head of Arab on the United website clicking refresh every five seconds with a separate browser window with the draft JA606 article ready to publish

There's plenty of reasonable doubt about Maguire but now he's ours I'm just looking forward to seeing a commanding figure in our defence and hoping he takes us up a level as a team.

Less relevantly, during the last World Cup I read one of those articles by a non-sports journalist who only writes about football once every four years. It was mainly about how 'relatable' this England team is but commented on Harry Maguire as having a 'classic school face' - i.e. he looks like someone you sat next to in GCSE maths. It's so true, and for some reason it makes him seem fundamentally likeable. I've never been able to watch Maguire since without thinking 'classic school face'.

The figures are as laughable as the lies on Boris's big red bus.

He'll boss it on Sunday.

Our defence is at least better in the air now.
And so is our attack at set pieces... If we can get the ball into the box.

I don't mind Maguire so much but I don't think he's the type of centre-back you pay a world record fee for.

Hopefully he can come in and assert himself straightaway and help improve those around him but I have my doubts it'll turn out like that.

I don't know how Ole expects to play a high line with Maguire and Lindelof when the players in front can't offer them enough protection, can't control possession or impose themselves on better quality midfields.

Three days left of the window and there's absolutely no sign of a midfielder coming in. It's ridiculous.

Why's the title of this article in Spanish btw?

Because Arab copied/pasted straight from his Twitter source El Craigo Bushmousio

Maguire is definitely a better option than some of our defenders but I’m not entirely convinced our XI is much better with him. Like I said, I can’t see him partnering Lindelof as they’re too similar,

...........

Maybe it is just me but I see Lindelof as Pally to Maguire's Bruce.

Your spine will be very slow with Maguire, Matic and Lukaku.

You need hardworking players who are mobile in midfield.

That's a valid observation, but it looks likely that Lukaku isn't going to be part of the team, let alone a first-choice part of the spine, and Matic has been second choice to McTominay. A lot of us would be happier if we brought in a mobile DM though.

Lukaku won't be playing. Matic is the issue. Hopefully he won't be playing much either.
