Any decent team would have won against us today thank fack it was Newcastle. Need to get new signings up to speed asap
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How many games did we win away last season. A couple of better results and we would comfortably finished top 4.

I am not sure what your expectations are but this is a project. And we are making steps forward again after quite a few years of decay.

Nelson and Willock played well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No they didn't. You're judging them by very different standards/expectations. Mkhitaryan who was facking sheite for most of the game still contributed more offensively than both did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You need to see the game in context of how we played. We created little without having any widths on both sides. At least they keep the ball at their feet (most of the time)

Most underrated performance is Aubameyang. He was our best player today, not just for the goal, but he generally did well on the ball, ran well off the ball and worked hard.
Gwen also played pretty well compared to his partner in midfield (our useless "captain". I barely noticed our CB's today, so I guess that somewhat means they played well.

They aren't good enough yet to be starting for a top 6 side. They showed flashes of brilliance but then failed in. A lot of the basics
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Come on lads we're missing Pepe, Laca, Ozil, Cellebos who are all first team starters when fit.

Had to make do with what we had.

Early call...... Zaha would have been brilliant in this game
Just saying
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I'm excited to see Pepe adapt to the league but Zaha would've been the much less risky signing. We already know what he offers in this league and that pace and ability to go past players would've been worth the money. Hopefully pepe can be similar to him

No, Auba wasnt hardly involved for most of the time which say something about how we played. But when he finally got the ball he was dangerous.

Zaha was amazing for Palace yesterday, leading them to a high scoring win.

I'm not liking the way we're playing under Emery and I'm beginning to think this is less a matter of the personnel at his disposal and more a matter of his management style. The way we were playing at 1-0 encapsulates so much of the issues we have away from home. Newcastle were there for the taking if we cranked up the intensity, but we spent the last 20 mins trying to see off the game and inviting pressure.

When was the last time we didn't panic at least twice in defence in an away game last season?

We only had one clean sheet away from home.

And we have managed it already.

We controlled most of the game and hardly were in real danger. Looking solid and got the 3 points.

Was getting really worried about the yellows, and the ref was very lenient with Newcastle players.

Cause VAR stops them giving goals and penalties against us that shouldn’t stand

Now have to do something else to screw us

Errr.......that is precisely my point when I said it's seeming less a matter of personnel than his management. Meaning that even with the options he has, our football still looks rather insipid and disjointed. I don't know what kind of results we'd have under Klopp, but I know for damn sure we'd be playing more fluid attacking football than we're doing under Emery.

Think Emery wanted to prove a point that youngsters, players who were discarded like Chambers, can do a job and their careers are not finished at Arsenal. They did and we were comfortable. We had the greater number of chances. Had Mkhi scored in the first half it would have been an easy 2 or 3 -0. Thats all you want in away game.

The first choice team would probably be,

-------------------leno-----------------------------
bellerin------Luiz----------Sok--------Tierney-
-----------------Torreira-----Xhaka-----------
-------------------Ozil--------------------
------Pepe------Auba----------Laca-----------

How many of that team started today? And we won a game we controlled. Whatsmore? It was AWAY. Where we kept one clean sheet in the whole of last season!
