I don't think it's ludicrous at all.
Obviously I'm speaking relatively.
Question: how far down the league would go until you find a central midfield that you believe it weaker than ours?

I'd make a case the Liverpool's are on a par.
Pogba, McT and any one of Matic, Perreira, Mata, Fred and Lingard is just simply not "incredibly weak" no matter how you quantify it.

You think our central midfield is as strong as Liverpool's?
Blimey.
And yes, it is incredibly weak in my opinion.
You keep telling me it isn't but you don't really justify it.
I think it's 'incredible' that we enter the season with our eyes on 3rd place (as a club) and we're presumably looking at the Europa League as winnable, yet we have a central midfield that is weaker than probably any other team in the top 7/8 teams in the league?
2-1 United. Rashford and Pogba.
And yes, it is incredibly weak in my opinion.
You keep telling me it isn't but you don't really justify it.
---------------------------
What's to justify.
"Incredibly weak" would suggest it is so awful that it is barely functioning.
Yet we have Pogba, a top class talent who, though not 100% consistent, as a very, very good midfielder who can create and score goals from all over the pitch.
We have McT, who, though young, he proven time and again that he can put in 7 and 8 out of 10 performances against any team, including those in the top 4.
We then have an array of hit and miss players. They are not devoid of talent though.
So two of our three players are good and one slot is still up in the air.
That's not what any avid football watcher would consider "incredibly weak".

Liverpool have a superior attack and defence, Ji is not wrong in saying Liverpool's midfield isn't that much better than ours(or equal).
Klopp has got them playing in a good system that works for them. Individually, they aren't special at all.

Not a chance. Liverpool's first three are better than your first three and then we have Keita, Ox and Milner after that. You're living in dreamland if you think United's midfield is on par with Liverpool's.

I think perhaps you're taking 'incredibly weak' too literally and ignoring that I said, relatively.
Relatively speaking it is incredibly weak for a top six side. I think it's significantly weaker than the midfield of teams around us and I cannot believe we've gone into the season with those players.
I hope I'm wrong and I hope the kids are able to develop quickly.
Fred is unproven but then Pogba is miles ahead of any of your 3. I'd say the midfields are on a par
Fabinho>Mctominay
Wijnaldum...Pogba? It's crazy that I have to put a question mark here as a Pogba on form and actually putting the effort in should win this but then this is your issue.
Henderson>Pereira
Milner>Matic
Keita>Fred
Ox>Who?
There is some logic in saying that Klopp has a midfield that is a sum greater than it's parts, but based on current performance we cannot claim our midfield is as good as theirs!
We deserved to beat them in the league away game so if we can play like that again and take some of our chances and don’t concede cheap goals we will win.

Yes but even individually, every player is better, with perhaps the exception of Pogba, if you are talking talent rather than actual performances.

I was just replying to your comment which said the sum is greater than its parts, which I do agree with. However I wanted to add that even if this is the case, it's still better individually. I'm not saying this against what you're saying, just adding to it.
Man Utd last clean sheet at OT came against Liverpool in a game where we were getting injured from the start until the Chelsea game last time out. Wolves were 2-1 up from 1 shot on target and only had another 1 in last few seconds I believe. A freak game that as we were cutting through them all game.

You only added that part after.
I still think it is a bit OTT, even relatively... But, let's just see how we get on.
We are one game into a new season, with a much stronger backline, so the midfield might show their qualities in much different ways, this season.
In a way the main reason we didnt get top 4 is in our bad run at end of season we were by far the better team in most and wasteful finishing and poor goalkeeping cost us like over 10 points. We actually played a lot better in games we drew/lost last season in the league then most of our win. In a way that says we can win the title if we keep outperforming the opposition on expected goals like we have been doing under Solskjaer.

I added it as clarification.
Absolutely, as I say, I do hope I'm wrong!
All I can say is I want you to have chance after chance, hit the woodwork twice, then give away a penalty and then lose 4-0 ...i'm not bitter...
But in all honesty it's a tough game, but chelsea lost there last season also but were dominant, I think there results against the top 6 are skewed a bit as they were rarely the "better team" when they beat the big boys, just had a mixture of luck and a good game plan.
Will be hard for them to replicate those results this season
Nickasaurus remember our 4-0 loss to Chelsea were we were by far the better team but we missed 4 sitters and about 4 other good chances and Chelsea scored from pretty much every chance like we did in the 4-0 win bar 1 lol.
