Totally agree NJS ref the importance of Forshaw to the team.. but can understand posters who are frustrated at the lack of goals.. he gets into some brilliant positions and fluffs it....

personally, I'd like to see Pablo in the middle, with Costa on the wing at the expense of Forshaw..

could be an option at some point?

Well how many forward players do you want in the
team, how many potential scorers do you want?
There are many potential scorers in the squad, you
should be focusing on them and why they don't
score enough goals, not focusing on players who
are not in the team to score goals, generally, but
have different roles to play.
Take a player away from midfield and dominating
possession will probably suffer.

I'm not sure the cameras portray the work Forshaw puts in and what he gives to the side. Agreed he maybe needs to chip in with more goals, but that aside he's clearly a valued member of the 1st team in the view of MB.

That was a decent Brentford side last night, plenty of power and skill. After an average 1st half, I thought we outplayed them.

Go and have a look at David Batty's goals per game but my did that lad play a role in the team.

Batty didn’t need to score as he had Chosnek top scorer in league or thereabouts, speed Strachan and Mcallister scoring as well as Wallace dirigible and sterland.

We don’t have this volume of goals in this side but it’s maybe an academic point as I’m not sure we have s replacement who can do his job and score goals at present so we have to accommodate that.

I think when Costa is starting we’ll be creating better chances and scoring more.

Chosnek?
Wallace's dirigible.

What are you talking about J?

Maybe Forshaw will add some goals to his game this season. Bielsa has improved every player since he's been here, he might do that with Forshaw.

It's weird with Forshaw as his technique on shots isn't actually bad, he connects well but just always straight at the keeper.

Forshaw is playing really well this season but I agree with others I think he suits us away from home.

We have lots of options now but we really need to find a way of getting Costa in the starting 11

posted on 22/8/19

This is not a criticism of Forshaw as I think he is an excellent defensive midfielder, but at home when we’re up against a back five or even seven in some cases we need that extra creative spark from midfield.
If you had two Battys available you wouldn’t drop Speed to play them both. For me either Shackleton comes into midfield or Hernandez moves in and Costa on the wing.

My guess would be Chapman and Dorigo. Good old predictive text.

I have no problem with Forshaw playing at the moment and he is making a good contribution to the way we play.Hopefully though Bielsa will know when the moment is right to change things around or may have his hand forced via injury which is often the case.

Gelderd, I would start wherever possible with the 11 who started the season. Maybe needs to make changes earlier when needed. Pablo, last night, should have been off and replaced by Costa at half time.

Was watching the defence last night. It's noticeable how much is orchestrated by Liam Cooper. White looks to him for directions.
Obviously they have trust in the lad and White will come on leaps and bounds under his tutelage.
Coops doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

Question, well 2 actually, from last night.

1. Was it a penalty? Did they handball or was it ball to hand. From where I sit you couldn't see clearly.
2. Who got booked? Was it Dallas or Cooper, I presume for complaining?

100% penalty

Dallas got booked

I remember when TC allowed players to choose their captain and everyone says it was weak management, Cooper not right person etc.

I think he’s fine really well not just in his own game (ok we know there are errors here and there) but in his leadership on and off the pitch, certainly feel we’re in safe hands there.

Cheers Gelderd ……… If we want success we'll have to do it despite the officials it seems …..

As for our CB's. Cooper has just grown and grown over the last 2 seasons. I posted on another thread, I think White is an absolute find (so far). Really impressed with the guy so far. Had my doubts before season started whether we could rely on him, but so far so good.

Actually, I think most people thought Berardi' tackle near touchline that set up Klich, Costa and goal was going to be penalised, it wasn't, so maybe its not always officials against us

You can say you've seen them not given but hasn't there been a rule change saying if it hits the hand its handball?

I don't see how that can possibly not be given

Another Brentford player was right in the ref's line of sight, he can't give what he can't see.

Funnily enough, a Brentford player ran right across the refs line of vision when Berardi tripped the guy (at least it looked like he tripped him unless someone has a better view) - think that’s why it wasn’t given. So maybe for once it evened itself out..., the ref’s view cost us a goal and gave us one.

Come on now ….. i'm a fan, officials are always against my team ……..

This evened itself out with Berardi tackle. Just frustrating that we've had 4 games and already there have been 2 obvious handballs, 1 blatant foul and then a couple of decent shouts (where it would be fouls anywhere else on the pitch) and we've not had a penalty.

Should have had a minimum of 3 penalties.
