Hate these songs with a passion, I'd take full stadium closures if it made people cut out that nonsense once and for all. Sadly I don't think even that would stop some people though.

Yeah, I think you're right in that it wont stop some people. I think I told that guy last night about 4 times during the night to stop with the songs, it's almost autopilot to some people and the drunker they get, the more they do it sadly.

I think there could be merit in closing sections if there is sectarian singing and individuals can't be identified. Might prompt some to be more proactive about calling it out if they know their seat could be at risk because of it.

Maybe, just maybe it’s the shot across the bows; and by that I mean for both clubs.

Because not putting too fine a point on it whilst this is hilarious for us as regards your punishment there but for the grace of God go we.

And once they’ve given out a partial closure of a stand it’s not out of the question to suggest that next time it’s a full stand and then the ground. All with huge fines.

And bet your rse it’ll be us next.

I can see how it would work

Out of that 3000 most will be innocent fans just wanting to enjoy the game but now won't because of idiots. Most will stop singing it but if some continue then fans miss out and will turn on them in greater numbers

Agree with that subs and the fact that at that game there were only three arrests and none for sectarian signing The only criticism that I would have of Uefa is the fact that this relates to game one of qualifying and the punishment is to apply to a game that is already sold out. Given how slowly they move then surely the next home tie would be more appropriate?

Union bears were always going to be the ones to miss out for fear of them doing what probably would happen, sing the songs even louder next week.

As a Dundee United supporter whose watched us play Celtic and Rangers for over 50 years. (Although not recently mind you) I’ve heard these so called offensive songs many times and have to say it bothers me - and most people I know- not a jot.
To me it’s what the OF fans sing at games at that’s it.
Who decided that they were offensive and to whom.
They’re sung over 90 minutes then put away until the next week.
Impossible to stop so why try.

I can see all sorts of argument as to the fairness of it all, and have huge sympathy for those fans who will be unfairly labelled and disadvantaged by it, but at the end of the day, if it works then it's worth it in the long run I reckon.

Price has to be paid, unfortunately. I'd blame the fvcktards before UEFA here.

Hopefully our own fvcktards will get the message too. But they likely won't. They're fvcktards after all. Incapable of seeing the equivalency. So it will likely mean we have to pay an unfair but necessary price too. Love to be wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with that also, but until the authorities in Scotland get serious then the ejits at other clubs, Hearts, Aberdeen, Dunfermline and probably many more will get away with it as they don't compete/stay in Europe very long.

It’s not like we haven’t been told before by uefa

The fans have also had numerous warnings from the club

Maybe now they might just take notice

The pathetic arguments about what is sectarian or offensive need to end

The BB is always debated no problem when killie Dundee or numerous other wade about in blood I’m told

Well it’s fekn clear what the difference is

A lot of football chants are designed to be offensive
Whether it’s big DJ or frank mcgarveys wife
People getting shot in their sleep
Old footballers not seeing much more time
Footballers with mental health issues mocked

So if offending folk because they don’t follow the same team as you is your thing you have loads of choice

But make no mistake sectarian stuff needs to stop
And I don’t give a fek what others might sing it’s time to move on at Rangers
In the last 30 years we have managers captains heroes of many backgrounds so ffs embrace that respect that and get with the 21 st century

You might even like it
