Wow.

I am genuinely amazed at the reaction on here.

Poch has got Spurs overachieving imo and if he were to go, I think you'd suddenly realise what a special manager he is for you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't think they're overreacting at all. Spurs are 18th based on the last 15 games and have just 1 away game since January, that's a large chunk of games to be more than just a blip.

Something is clearly wrong within the club right now.

The Welsh Xavi (U15412)

But ultimately we're judged on PL seasons - not random selections of games.

There's a clear reason why they finished poorly imo... a lack of investment in the squad.

They still finished in the top four and reached the final of the CL.

What will happen this season? No one knows and it's three games in, so far too early to be making judgements.

Can Spurs fans expect to see development as investment increases? Probably, but that will take time and they have been overachieving imo, so one 'normal' season may be harder to take.

From the outside looking in, there does appear to be something going on at Spurs. Vertonghen seems to be sidelined for some reason when his partnership with Alderweireld has always been very good. Aurier appears out of favour as well (as he ever in favour?). The stance on Eriksen I kind of understand but ultimately he's still one of their best players so whilst he's a Spurs player and they pay his wages, use the guy. Rose being effectively told to find a new club then starts the season as LB. All just seems a bit unnecessarily disruptive.

I do wonder whether Poch was made promises by Levy which haven't been delivered on. RM seemed interested last year and it wouldn't be a stretch to think Levy said stay whilst we get the new stadium in and then we'll invest and grow. Perhaps Poch feels let down? Total speculation obviously.

All that said, I don't think there's much wrong with Spurs at all. Front line has goals in it, Dele and Eriksen (think he'll stay this season) are creative and the GK, CBs trio should be strong. Ndombele looks a player so the spine is there. Personally I still think they're the 3rd best team in the league.

The problems start and end with Levy in my opinion.

Danny Rose lifted the lid on what the issue is for him when he insisted that he does not believe he or his Spurs team-mates are paid their true worth.

Spurs have some great players, but these players can see what there contemporaries are earning and want their slice. Levy won't accept this.

It is also Levy's fault that when Spurs needed investment in the team to take the next step, he sat on his hands. Yes he built a stadium which is vitally important, but Poch's future is based entirely on results. Fans want results, this will never change.

Poch has worked wonders in keeping the team competetive, making the top 4 and reaching a CL final. The cracks are now becoming too difficult for him to paper over now. I feels sorry for him as ungrateful fans turn on him and results have slipped. Key players want out. Eriksen will likely sign on a free in January, will this be Poch's fault too. No it's Levy's.

Spurs fans turning on Poch is unfathomable for me. be careful what you wish for.

Fullbacks are so important in the modern game and Spurs fullbacks are awful

Honestly if these positions weren't neglected they'd actually be a very dangerous outfit.

Seems to be a continuous issue with getting current players to sign new deals. With Erikson if he wants away that's one thing but imo you either play him from the start or not at all. Don't see the point in bringing him on after an hour as that smacks of desperation or may MP trying to make a petulant point.

Same with Vertonghan, Alderweireld in 17/18 and possibly others (Rose?).

There seems to be a massive misconception that Spurs play decent, attractive football. Iv seen it mentioned earlier on this thread.

The results are one thing, but the performances are on a whole level of disappointment. People assume that we still play the football we did 3 years ago. High pressing, quick football etc. It really is not like that anymore.

The football being served up at the moment is as bad as I remember it for a long time. It would be acceptable if we were lifting trophies, but we aren't.

For me, the quality of football has to improve drastically. I honestly don't understand why neutrals think we play decent football.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because most don't watch enough full games. From what I see, Spurs produce moments of quality from the likes of Kane, Son, Dele, Eriksen that win you games. Most neutrals will watch highlights and that's what they see.

I include myself in that tbh. Not just highlights but also the more respected end of football journalism (podcasts and articles), it informs and shapes opinion combined with what I do see myself. There doesn't appear to be a strong narrative around Spurs' performances having dropped off a cliff.

Don- Poch will walk before Xmas and we will not get top 4 this year !!

The last couple of posters, Numbers and Bake 'em telling it like it is. The rest? In La La Land.

The whole thing is a shambles and has been for a long time. People have no idea about lack of motivation, drive, determination, ambition, mentality. They will talk about the physical aspects, presuming if a player is "good", re: technical ability, and if the manager picks the right, *consistant* line-up then that's all that's needed.

Wrong! Problems are running deep throughout this club. There seems to be a lack of unity in the team. No gelling amongst the players. The manager is clueless. Talks in riddles. Makes no sense. Basically no manager would last this long.

In the past we have lost great managers such as Terry Venables and Harry Redknapp in unthinkable circumstances, sacked by the chairman. Today , people are wanting a manager who has done sweet FA for us except get us into regular Top 4 positions. For what? You do know that Top 4 means has one single purpose, qualifying for the Champions League. And when we are there it's not exactly the manager who got us into the Final. It's was players like Lucas Moura who miraculously brought us there. Yet such gifted players are then benched in the Final its unfathomable. The manager is off his rocker. And what's all this esoteric talk of Kane being in charge? Choosing when he wants to play, having so much authority? All seems very strange these days but I am not afraid of losing friends on here so I will tell it like it is.

Poch out.

Poch needs to go. Form at the moment is relegation form. Any other manager would be getting his P45 if he delivered the set of results Poch has in the past six months or so.

Lots of excuses, but when you actually start to look at the form, then the only one to blame is the manager. Last season he didn`t once pick an unchanged side in nearly 60 games. No wonder the form suffered. This season will go the same way, but be even worse.

Poch is not the messiah he would have us all believe. Plenty would jump at the job, and do just as well if not better.

Poch will be sacked, no way will he walk, he won`t get another job like he has now, with no pressure on him. I can see him ending up at a lower league club in three or four years time. No way could he manage a club like United or Real. The pressure would be too much, and he would be sacked within 9 months or so of taking the job.

Re:the good football/style point someone mentioned

Watched your game on Sunday with a friend who is a Spurs fan and he said that performance was like an AVB performance without Bale playing. Couldn't have summed it up better myself.
