We are going about things now in a completely different way. Probably a more ill advised way as well.
............
I think we need a couple of top quality more experienced players for sure.

His decisions in terms of ins and outs have been good. I’d have kept Herrera and brought in a forward or midfielder but that is in an ideal world.
We are very light though. The last two games have shown us that. Not really Solskjær’s fault but he could end up being the one to pay for it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why isn't it Oles fault ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I said “not really” - to some extent a manager has to be responsible for the squad with which he starts the season. But he had to deal with decisions made by the last two or three managers and, as has been said many times, he can’t do it all in one window. I would have liked another two signings, of course, but five is a lot to get right. If he say the right attacking players weren’t available then maybe that’s that.
I’m sure you’d like me to say it’s all Ed’s fault but I doubt it’s that Simone either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ole either could or couldnt do something about adding to the squad. Its either his fault, or it's not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So do you think it is? You’ve given yourself a clear Y or N answer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have no way of knowing. Neither does.anyone else on here.
There are plenty of things in the future that will be Ole's fault, same with every manager.
But at present I don't think you can lay the blame at his door for incomings.
I'm pretty sure he wanted another two or three players, but either couldn't get the ones he wanted, or more likely, had to work to a budget, so needed to get some money in.
By the time the Lukaku deal was done, and at least part of Sanchez wages off the books it was too late to get anyone in.
Ther is a chance he may buy one in January, which if it is the right one, fine. If not I prefer to wait until next summer and buy the ones that fit what we want and need. If it means a poor season, then so be it, we have no divine right to be good, it needs planning and working for. That included SAF when he came and I don't see what has changed in that respect.
Pogba & DDG should have also been on that list to dispose of also as neither wanted to stay with us and its clear DDG seems to be in demise, progressive clubs like City & Lvpool with their managers I feel would have recognised this, cashed in on them and replaced them with hungry quality players.

It's not technically a "rebuild" at the moment is it?
Just a demolition in progress.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never understood what a rebuild is in football terms. Clubs sign players pretty much every season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would you not take 03-05 as a rebuilding few seasons from SAF? I think those were the years, when we had Djemba Djemba and Kleberson and the likes. Only RVN was keeping us doing well.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
But we had a squad. If by rebuilding the squad you mean improving the squad, isnt that a constant thing?

Well I think rebuilding means taking out the deadwood as Ole is doing, the second part should be brining in new players to full in gaps, which isn’t happening as of yet. Yes he’s improved at RB and CB, but we clearly need a CM and another forward imo

You have to be one of the thickest people on the planet if you can't tell the difference between squad maintenance and a squad rebuild.
Fortunately in this case, RDD is one of the thickest people on the planet and should be treated with utter contempt.

Oh that's who it is, didn't think anyone could be that stupid.
Also I don't agree we cannot get top players in if we are not in the CL;
There are myriad reasons why players join a club, but top of the list is MONEY, both in terms of fee offered, and wages.
But also,
Language
Input from agent and family.
Manager
Current position, but also status, is the club big enough and rich enough to get back to the top.
What country you are from.
All play a part, some we will get, some not.

I think there's a point where there isn't enough money to throw at players. Also seems like we want to change our wage structure, but i do get your point.
I think it's more the club is on a short decline that would worry players, unless other good players are being bought in.
I can see Pogba leaving is we don't make any big signings next summer.
