A real danger of the fans boiling over if you get beat by Leicester imo.

Not been a good start, results need to pick up fast.

Too early for that yet. I was in the Stratford End against Palace and heard no dissent. Frustration, yes, but any anger (rightly or wrongly) was kept for the referee. I think a lot of fans understand where we are.

Didn’t realise OT has moved to East London

I saw it and couldn’t be bothered correcting it.

I think Rodgers will play for a draw and get it.

...................

If he watched our game v Palace he would probably expect to win it. Just have Vardy constantly bash Lindelof.

Yeah Im sure he thinks he can get a win but I reckon he'll have designs on top six so a draw away at OT is a good result for them. Rodgers seems to have grown a bit tactically and definitely talk less shiiiiiiiiiiiit.

I think that is where most people (me for sure) had an issue with him. His Liverpool side was not that much different (defence apart) from Klopps current side, from a playing perspective.

Ummm BR messed about with systems more. Cant see Klopp playing Sterling at wing back for example.

However some of the stuff BR said was so cringe. I know it shouldn't matter but personally I lost faith when he said Liverpool were "on an upward curve of philosophy".

Vardy could run riot if we're not careful.

Based on the games so far, you’d probably make Leicester favourites objectively. Fortunately it doesn’t always work that way but this is a tough game for us.

Yes all those happy memories I have of Leicester beating Manchester United at Old Trafford. Sadly, however, it was once, over 20 years ago and Tony Cottee scored the winner. Not a happy hunting ground for us.

This game itself is difficult to predict. We’re not a counter attacking team anymore or, at least, we’re trying not to be. Brendon has been setting us up in a narrow 4-3-3 to control possession. The trouble is we’ve looked fairly horrible and uncreative when we’ve played like that despite picking up 1 win and 2 draws.

The Bournemouth game was much better. We changed to a 4-1-4-1 and looked much more creative but, let’s face it, it was much more like old Leicester in terms of being a lot more direct.

This game presents a quandary. We’ve struggled with plan A (4-3-3) and teams that organise themselves and sit deep know we haven’t got the creativity to punish them. Surely, however, that’s unlikely how Manchester United will play at home? Or do we revert to plan B (4-1-4-1), but surrender some control of the game to a top six team? I don’t think BR has found the right balance yet.

Similarly I think MU are a team in transition, but still with quality players in their ranks. I don’t know which team will turn up from either side but, simply because we never win at OT, I reckon we’ll lose.

As a post script I’m fascinated to see how Maguire will get on against us. We know he’s vulnerable when turned, but pretty good if the games in front of him. The service to Vardy has to be good.

They might boil over on here, but not at OT unless we go down without a fight.

We need to play with 3 in midfield rather than the 4231 we've been playing.

The biggest mistake I see on here is people who claim to go to games at OT on here seem to understand very little about football.

SE-85 being the biggest culprit.

Strongly agree, 52, on the cheese question. We spent a couple of weeks in Languedoc-Roussillon this summer and I basically lived on Camembert and local red wines from the hills north of Montpellier.

Whereabouts do you live? I'm sure you've mentioned it before but my memory is faulty.

Hi RR, in Normandy, nearest big town is Caen. The village of Camembert is about 30 miles away.

As long as Ole insists on playing his 4-2-3-1 with Pogba in a back 2, we will not win. If Ole gets his head out of his posterior and plays 4-3-3 we could be OK, but Vardy likes to mug us for a goal or 2, and Johnny Evans may have his worldy against us and score a goal as well. We'll need 3 goals to get 3 points. Who could provide us these goals?

You can't predict our results because there's no way of knowing if we'll turn up from one game to the next. You get a rough of idea of how we'll play but not the result.

This team have nothing about them in terms of consistency which isn't all their fault given how badly the squad has been built over the years but they're going to have start showing more intelligence and better decision making soon or else we'll not be getting top 4 again unless we can win the Europa League again.

Anyway, looking forward to this one. I've been to between 70-80 United games and this is only the 2nd Saturday 3pm kick-off I've been to which is madness when you actually think about it. Flight prices from Northern Ireland make it difficult.

Think this game is a really good measure of where we are at, win it and it’s a big confidence boost but if we get turned over by Rodgers and Leicester at OT a lot of uncomfortable questions are going to come out of it both squad ability wise and our manager.

posted on 6/9/19

Wow, how things have changed. I spent decades going to Saturday games, with the odd Wednesday night game which I enjoyed. But two out of 70 odd is crazy.

------------------------------------------------

There's been plenty of that already.

The squad isn't up to standard by a long long way. Time will tell whether the manager is. I have my doubts but I do have sympathy with him having to work with the squad he has.

We'll never know how many signings he was pushing for during the summer but I'd be astonished if he was happy with what he ended up with. He's been let down really badly by the club in that regard IMO.

I think he wanted Longstaff, he fits the profile.

---------------------------------------------

It seemed like it was him or nothing. I'm glad that didn't materialise despite bemoaning the lack of signings in midfield because we have a not too dissimilar player in Garner and I don't think it's wise to put so much emphasis on young British players.

We need some established quality, British or not.

Like I said at the start of the season, performances and style of play are what I'm looking at this season.

We will be very inconsistent and have a tough season but the experience will benefit everyone in the squad

Still applies for me. It’s the long game we need to Persue, not short term fixes.
