Should have been called Drinkbooze

Not looking good. Guy seems to have used all his luck up when he won the league. Nothing seems to be going right for him added to questionable actions off the field

It’s especially crazy seeing as he is not exactly a kid anymore - he’s 29. You’d think he’d be working hard to make his time at Burnley work. If he just wanted to get drunk and sit on the sidelines he could have just stayed at Chelsea. This is likely to be his last chance to re-establish himself. I’d like to see him get back to his best - but it sounds like it’s his attitude that’s the problem as much as anything else.

Some players seem to do this. Happy to pick up checks for doing nothing, not a care about their career, done if these guys are so lucky, but just don’t care

The guy is just a shiiít footballer who had a freak season at Leicester along with the majority of his team mates. He knows himself that he has peaked and won’t ever resemble the footballer he once did at Leicester which is why he is pïssing around now

Considering his talent Id say he's doing brilliantly.

The guy isn’t a shiiiit footballer, he’s simply not a top 4 player. He made a suicidal career move asking to leave Leicester - he wasn’t going to do any better than us. On his day he can pick out anyone with a perfect ball - superb passer and good tackler. The problem he’s always had is consistency - he was incredible during the title win but then awful the following year (he was like that in the championship)

If he applied himself he would be a solid central midfielder at PL level - but he sounds like he’s given up

On his day he hit the occasional long ball to Vardy or Mahrez is what you meant to say

He had a freak season at Leicester which he knows he will ultimately be remembered for and not the fact that he is just another journeyman who was only given an opportunity by other clubs because of the club he started his career with

Agree with everything you say - should never have left Leicester although it can be difficult to turn down when lots of money is thrown at you. Plus, his inconsistency the year after your title winning year may have had something to do with Kante no longer being there.

But I do agree that he can be a decent player. If he really showed some commitment and got his head back in the game he could be a good signing for Burnley. Maybe this latest debacle could be a wake-up call for him. I hope so.

Very hard to sympathize with him at this point. Sarri made it clear last year he wasn't in his plans/that if he stayed he'd be doing nothing more than collect a wage. Choose to stay - fair enough, it's the risk you run as a club giving players outrageous contracts, but don't act like a and expect people to sympathize with you for that reason. Living on 100K/w to show up for training for a few hours everyday is the kind of easy life all of us could only dream of having, not hard done by in any way shape or form.

I think that's been half his trouble....he's taking him a kings ransom & has been left completely out - he's just got that self destructive streak in him...like Gazza had.

Why is everyone saying they are thugs? They were a bunch of blokes who were giving him a kicking for trying it on with their mates bird even after he was told she had a boyfriend.

Deserves everything he got

Not really no but if one of my mates birds was getting chatted up in front of him and the guy wouldn't stop after being warned then he deserves a kicking. being polite gets you nowhere.

I didn’t hear what he did to cause the problem - but whatever he did violence is not the answer. He probably shouldn’t have been in the nightclub anyway, but even if he was behaving like a d!ck it is still not ok for a gang of people to beat him up. I’ve never been to Burnley - maybe that is considered acceptable there.

"so violence is acceptable then?"
"Not really no but....then he deserves a kicking"

in the same sentence.

Not against a good tear up by any means but jumping all over his ankles shouting 'break his legs' cos they knew he was a footballer seems a bit OTT.

He was chatting up another players bird. He got told to leave it many times and didn't. He was taken outside and dealt with.

He got kicked out of the club, problem solved. No need for violence

It sounds like you're still living in the 1970's when behaviour like that was (perhaps) considered acceptable. I'm not even defending Drinkwater - I'm just saying that violence is not the answer to this - or anything. Ever. Do you even read what you write? You say "He was chatting up another players bird" as if that somehow justifies punching people. First of all - women (or "birds" as you call them) are not pieces of chattel. This woman, presumably, is an independent person who is not owned by any other person - and is able to decide for herself who she does and does not want to talk to. If a drunk man (in this case Drinkwater) was harassing her, he should have been removed from the club - which it sounds like he was. That's how you "deal" with a situation like that. Unfortunately, neanderthal thugs (the people you are supporting in this case) somehow felt it was their right as "men" to then "deal" with the situation themselves - which it was not. I hope they get arrested and punished appropriately. Unfortunately there are still too many people like this who go to football games - the sooner we get rid of them from our grounds entirely, the better and safer the game will be.

Well said BlueJ2 physical violence is really not needed
