Good to see the Monday post back Nev, we must have lost?
Hit and miss so far but we're still 5th in the League, first game lost to a dodgy penalty and if De Gea hadn't been so lucky stopping Maddison it could have been all so different.
I knew we were in trouble when Merson declared we'd win.
Lots of angst out there despite being 5th, lets see where we are after 10 games, 15 games, 20 games etc.

Referencing the league table at this point is just daft. It doesn’t mean anything until everyone’s played a dozen games.
Performances on the other hand, coupled with the tactical approach - that’s what we need to be focusing on. Both are a concern
I just don't want another manager to waste 20 games on giving Gray 20 more chances to prove himself, only to get sacked and the next manager waste another 20 games because he looks good in training. Surely the evidence is already there...
Albrighton has never delivered consistent quality into the box. He has some good games but he gets it wrong far more often than he gets it right. However, I think it becomes clearer year after year just what he does bring to the team instead: Impetus. Against Bournemouth he was busy, making himself available, trying things, playing the ball around corners; it didn't always work but it set a pace for everyone else to step up to. Maddison, Teilemans, Ndidi, Choudhury - all fine players but all are young and none (yet) really know how to inject pace and urgency into possession like Albrighton does. I watched Tielemans and Maddison against Bournemouth - both were getting into good positions between opposition midfield and defence but often they didn't have anyone to actually deliver the ball to them in those positions. That, more than crossing, assisting, etc., is what Albrighton brings to the team.
I didn't see the Man Utd game, but it sounds like they did a job on us. They got an early goal and made the most of it, closing the game out and slowing the pace. Again, our players don't know how to raise it. Tactics and personnel may not have helped but this is something that our young midfielders will have to add to their games. Working in training on taking fewer touches would be a good start.
Cheesy - That's a cracking point.
Finlay - If you're looking to alter Nev's grammar, my advice is to stop early and give it up as a lost cause.
Nev - Loving the pun
TB and BS - making the same point in a different way - that must be a first. I agree that league tables are somewhat irrelevant, but we'd all feel a bit better if the performances didn't look so Puel.
People are often hauled up when they criticise the team when league position isn't too bad - but it's dead easy to jump on the bandwagon when we're losing and bottom of the league.
I think many of us can see the issues that have been there for some time. The frustration is that BRodgers made great strides in resolving them last season - with the introduction of Tielemans and playing a 4-1-4-1 formation, but seems determined to go back and try what's been tried and failed before.
Cheesy - yes my comment above includes Gray who should be loaned out or sold in January
Dunge - I think more accurately he's correcting his spelling - not his grammar - but your point is valid either way.
Damn you Joby - that’s exactly what I was going to say.
I’ll say it anyway.
Firstly Nev let me congratulate you on your excellent punnery. Spot on.
Secondly, why oh why oh why has Rodgers gone back to square pegs in round holes in a formation that doesn’t work, when he found one in 4-1-4-1 that absolutely does?!?!
WHYYYYYY?
If he wants to migrate to 4-3-3 then his recruiter was hopeless. We have Choudhury, Ndidi and Maddison our of position, Perez on the bench and Vardy isolated. What??
Go back to 4-1-4-1 for games against mid-low sides of which Utd are one. Save a more defensive set up for the real threats such as Man City and Liverpool.
I’m happy for this to be a transitional season, but I want to see progress and fewer mistakes as the season goes on. I blame that defeat and performance solely on Rodgers. He can’t have more games like that.
As for Spurs, weirdly that’s a game I would for more narrow and defensive, but drop Maddison if you do. Why waste him.
Incidentally, were we 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 on Saturday. Or a hybrid/fluid version???
To answer specifically the title of your post:
Based on man management and motivation: Absolutely not.
Based on tactics and formation: there’s worrying evidence there yes! Hopefully he squashed that soon!
The difference between Rodgers and Puel is Rodgers has better, more attacking players to choose from and is failing with them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
One thing I'll say about the United game is once Hamza and Gray went off and Perez and Barnes came on with Maddison was more central, we did have that injection of urgency that we desperately needed from the start. That system works but by the time he finally made those changes it was too late. United parked the bus and we didn't have time to shift it, those changes should have been made at half-time.
He does change formation so no, but he’s not getting it right as much as we’d hoped. 4-3-3 and the only way it works is if Maddison plays as one of the deeper 3. But struggling to see much of a way back for Gray - was really surprised when we didn’t follow though on the early transfer window speculation of Jarrod Bowen from Hull. He’s scoring for fun again from the right wing and was one of the championships best prospects in the last few seasons and at only 22. Was hoping for him as well as Perez.

Rodgers Responds
James Maddison does not play particularly well when positioned out on the wing, which is why some Leicester fans were left scratching their heads after their 1-0 loss against Manchester United over the weekend.
Leicester switched from their 4-3-3 formation to a 4-1-4-1, which allowed Hamza Choudhury to join the midfield but forced Maddison to play out wide.
When asked about the change in tactics, Brendan Rodgers the following explanation:
“Our idea at the beginning of the game was to press the game with two players who are very good at pressing the game in young Hamza (Choudhury) and Wilfred Ndidi.
“But of course, there’s a setback when you concede so early. We played our way into the game and when we changed it, with the winger and putting James inside, we got a better link between the midfield and the front-line.
“I think it helped us but we couldn’t quite make the final pass.”
I thread that as well TB. That is a very worrying response.
I hope that’s just him massaging the media to make out it wasn’t a royal shambles before he switches to a formation and set of players that actually works.
if you went on a desert island to get out of every day life and come back at the start of the season you would think claud puel was back in charge. yes their has been some good stuff but the way we play is no difference. 2 defensive midfield players vardy isolated.i cant see us breaking into the top 6

You're right, we won't finish top six playing with two CDM's, Maddison out wide and Vardy isolated but I think we could break into the top six if we play to our strengths and stop worrying about the opposition and instead make them worry about us, which of course is what top six sides do.
