It’s interesting that in 5 games Lampard has Chelsea playing better stuff than us and is using the youth players too.

Right now Ole is reluctant to use the likes of Chong, Gomes, Greenwood and co from the start. We’ve seen Ole make tactical mistakes week after week with Pogba playing in a two whereas Lampard made a smart tactical move against Wolves by changing to a back three and that paid off handsomely.

We did beat Chelsea 4-0 but I feel that Lampard has learnt from that and will take this Chelsea side far whereas we just don’t have any X factor about us whatsoever.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Lampard really showed tactical awareness when he surrendered a 2 goal lead at home to Sheffield United right enough

And failed to beat Leicester... Unlike us

And we tanked them

But no you're right... The one really good result he's had proves everything

Leicester were awful, and didn’t even try to win.
Chelsea outplayed us for large parts, that game could have gone either way and the score was totally lopsided.

We can’t really look too much into those games imo.

Chelsea were the better side until we scored... That's it... Once we were ahead we just picked them off

Leicester tactics against us has nothing to do with Chelsea failing to beat them... Can't assume brenda set up much differently at the bridge

And none of that explains why and how lampard couldn't prevent losing a 2 goal lead at home to sheff utd

To claim after 1 good win that he's doing this and that blah blah... Is stupid

Standard Robb tho... Absolutely bursting for us to fail this season

I don’t know why people keep comparing Lampard’s use of youth players when discussing Gomes, Chong, Greenwood and Garner. I’m disappointed they’ve not seen more game time, but out counterparts on the youth front to Chelsea’s are Periera, McTominay, Rashford and Tuanzebe.

Exactly.

We’ll see plenty of Gomes, Chong and Greenwood in the cup competitions.

Greenwood will start on Thursday hopefully

Think the starting 11 will be fairly strong to get a winning start... But Greenwood off the right would be good

Who’s saying that?

I just look at Chelsea and see some sort of plan which is coming into fruition - and they still have Kante to come into that side. I just don’t see any sort of plan in regards to what style of football Ole wants to go for.

Doesn’t make Ole bad or anyone else good. Just stating the obvious - what is the plan Ole is working towards? Please tell me if you know other than getting rid of players

What sort of plan is it you see with Chelsea

What do you think he had in mind when getting dominated by Leicester second half or the pathetic defensive display against us or drawing at home to sheff utd

How closely did you watch the wolves game... Seeing as it was on at the same time as ours? To get such an in depth idea of his football plan you must have been glued to their game

As regards ole... I'm critical of the 4231... Of being short in midfield and not addressing it during the transfer window... I don't blindly follow and make excuses like you do for your chosen messiahs

But I can balance it a little by saying our best players so far this season are his 3 signings (even tho i didn't want Maguire).... Which shows there's hope that he sees what he needs

And I'm happy he's clearing out the squad... Lukaku and sanchez are gone... You championed both so it stings... But the (hopefully... Gradual) move to a younger more dynamic playing staff is the right way to go imo

If we can improve results and league position while refreshing the squad.... And so far this season we have... Thats good enough for me to be patient

You on the other hand... Every person on here knew what you were going to be like this season... And you've let nobody down... You're boringly predictable these days... A poor imitation of the funrobb of old

So no actual idea of the plan Ole is trying to implement. Attacks on me (you’ll note I’m not attacking you) don’t help your argument.

I just don’t rate Ole. He’s done nothing really to show he’s anything than a transitional manager. Even with the poor second half displays from Chelsea I can see what they’re trying to implement - and I don’t need to watch all 90 mins of their games to understand what that is. I visit many sites to look at tactical breakdowns of games and I think Chelsea fans can get more excited about this season than we can. I’m perfectly happy to be proven wrong. Simple as that.

I hope so but I just can’t see it. His/Ed’s three signings have been good but on the pitch I really don’t see any more entertainment than I did under Jose and I thought at the very least under Ole we’d see exciting if flawed football. Not even seeing that (yet).

I’ve backed up every bit of why I don’t rate Ole and so far a lot of what I’ve said has come to fruition. I take no joy in it. I’d rather have to swallow it up and see a young manager doing well rather than do what Ole is doing which is miles away from what people thought he would do this season.

As for Chelsea Frank is trying to inject energy and urgency into the Chelsea side (which we’re not quite getting at United). Against Wolves he played a back three and brought natural width into the side and gave the likes of Mount and Willian freedom to create for Tammy.

Have you seen any tactical innovations from Ole at all this season?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

So when you're making every argument you have on here personal with vc and uww etc... You're admitting to having nothing of note to say... Cool

Outside of the formation complaint... I think Ole's playing it a little too safe so far this season... Again i don't mind being critical... But are you just erasing the change to split strikers and diamond in midfield that got victories last year.... This season is 5 games old ffs... We're playing in patches during games, some good others sitting dangerously deep imo... But that's because our midfield isn't strong enough to control games... Something i cried on here about all close season (while others insisted cb was our biggest issue)

The seasons 5 games old... Our new signings are doing well... We're in the top 4, improving results if not quite performances... It's not all bad

I've no idea if Ole will "come good"... But i like the approach to rebuilding the squad... And willing to give him time

You always preached about giving a manager a few windows to put his own stamp on the team... Why not give him the same chance, especially when his signings look like being good ones so far

The ole/ed signings comment is a bit snide btw... You won't even give him credit for the things he's done right? But you argue in good faith?

Ole's used last season in certain games of the 4-3-3/4-3-1-2 showed a certain degree of tactical nous.

I still think he's yet to find the right combination in his current set up, but there's indicators that he's getting there.

Let's just see what happens over a longer period of time and enjoy the ride in the meantime.
