Thinks Spurs had a stat a little while back that over 3 combined seasons they'd accumilated the most points.
It's unusual when that level of consistency goes unrewarded but it does happen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you. Somebody gets it.
Who would've thought pointing out our record points haul would've resulted in such teenage level responses.
Nobody is asking for a reward. If anything, it was merely a barometer of how good we've been.
But as usual, Terminator 1 and Greatteams have got bees in their bonnets. If I said the grass was green, they'd disagree.
I think it’s more valid just to stick with 97 points not being enough to win the league is unfortunate, otherwise it just becomes manipulated to suit.
It's the title you gave it OP that makes it ridiculous.

What's good is we've carried the consistency from the end of last season into this one in the league so far.
Big game Sunday now but a five point lead after five games would equate to 38 point gap over the season. Win it in January so...

Not even unfortunate really, if you only take 1 point off the team who finish above you then can’t have any complaints really.

Fair dos. Although I think it’s more ridiculous that you’d accumulate 97 points, lose one game and not win the title.

Huh? I've got no issue with you at all. You're just pointing out something that is irrelevant and it doesn't constitute being unlucky at all. It is maybe unusual that such a high points tally doesn't get rewarded, but unlucky just makes you sound whiny.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Apologies - didn’t intend to come across whiny.
And I’d disagree that it doesn’t constitute being unlucky. I think to get 97 points (more points than we’ve ever recorded - even more than 26 of the 27 Prem seasons to date is very unfortunate.

What's the difference between unfortunate and unlucky?
I agree with Great though.

Luck has nothing to do with City getting more though. Therefore, it isn't unlucky. Just unfortunate.

To be fair - that was in the title
You got some lucky breaks with decisions in getting as high as you did last season, and of course won the CL, so definitely not an unfortunate team.

How is it?
We diet get where we got by "lucky breaks".
In fact we had more unlucky breaks than lucky ones. Research has suggested we'd have won the league with VAR.
Its a fallacy and its typical of sports fans to see their more successful rivals as "lucky".
Not just decisions though, lucky breaks in general like Pickford helping you out, the winner against us, Mahrez missing a pen, remaining relatively injury-free etc.
I honestly think comments like that should be left to the likes of Bitter Billy. Intelligent posters can use it to wum but shouldn't fall into the trap of actually believing crap like that.
We had as much going against us which was quickly forgotten and not engraved in the psyche of rival fans as much as the "lucky incidents", which seem to have been beatified in readiness for sainthood.
By your logic, City also had a huge slice of luck to finish a point ahead.
Being better than spurs that helps as well

Did all Liverpool fans fall for the “ win the league with VAR” spoof
The article was made to poke fun at scousers and some took it seriously.
Let’s say you were not aware of the intention but I mean do some people not fact check stuff??
That VAR article only referenced 3-4 incidents and deliberately left out some games where Liverpool could have lost like west ham away.

Do you have proof for these allegations or is this coming outta your rear?
Furthermore, I didn't rely on the article to make my point, I merely mentioned it so this is ultimately pointless going on about it.The accuracy or otherwise of any article has no bearing on the accuracy of the point made.
Hope that's clear.
