Hard to comment on the gameplay when the game is so unresponsive for me. Every decision I make is delayed, everyone of my players' movement is slower than the opponents. Makes it nigh-on impossible to play attractive football and use skill.

That last sentence is exactly how I felt about 19. Players took an age to turn, quick passing in midfield especially was torture. There was no real fluidity to the game. I thought it was just me being bad but everybody said the same thing.

Seems FIFA 20 hasn't improved anything

It was a special day the day I decided to finally stop playing FIFA. I went from playing 2000 games per year on ultimate team to nothing. And it was glorious.

You'll feel much better for it if you give it up. And it'll save you money on buying new controls after you invariably break them after chucking them across the room in a fit of rage.

Not bought it this year. Can't really be bothered, last year was so awful.

Bought FIFA 12 for 50p, will stick with that till a decent game comes out.

Just spent the last 40 minutes trying to remember who i played him up front with.

My player seems to be radically out of position a lot of the time even when in defensive mode, makes for an easy goal by the opposition.

I like it for all those reasons you've said OP. Everything you mentioned was what made last FIFA absolute pathetic and glad its changed. I suspect it will revert back once updates are done following complaint from people who want it to be played at 100mph with one touch finished and contortionist passes

Jose Callejon was the hidden gem on FIFA12. That acceleration & sprint speed coupled with his balance & agility ratings....couldn't catch that man with the ball.

I think that was the game that Marko Aurnotovic(sp?) was fantastic too despite only being 79 rated?

I don't miss the continuous abuse of a first time shot from 30 yards, so I agree with you there.

Heading needs to be fixed though as it's terrible.

The latest patch has made dribbling more enjoyable. The game actually feels pretty good now to be fair.

I bit the bullet and bought it at the weekend. At the moment it seems a bit of an improvement, but I need to play more to see if there is scripting going on (Fifa 19 was awful for this).

Heading and taking set pieces seem to be the annoying aspects so far

Not at all, not until Xmas comes around and they update the game to make it noob friendly for the children getting it for their presents.

Still think the AI does too much defending and some of the blocks are unreal but overall it plays quite well - or maybe my expectations have been so low from past FIFA that this seems better.

I just remember players on FUT running like they were on ice skates and no mass to their bodies. They feel heavier now and more stable.

I've only played it for a few hours with friends and all 4 of us agreed it was terrible. Just agonisingly slow, rebound tackling back with a force, button delay and dodgy reffing decisions.

I prefer the slower pace and breaking through lines/ defences. I don't enjoy the manic 200 mph counter attacking football FIFA previously had. Always end to end and looking to score with 3 forward passes.

Agree with tackling and some referee decisions have been awful

Yeah I agree the slower pace is better, i've historically played "barca" football. To the point it does my friends head in, literally short corner every time.
But the pace is too slow to catch people out with neat triangles and passing imo. has been for a couple years, the intricate play is near impossible with the rebound and impossible passing angles people do.

Most of my opponents can't score with a header either.

As a football purist

I've always hated headers. I just think pressing square from our wide randomly into the box and from corners was a cop out for not being able to break through players.

Corners you don't really have a choice but some players only score from running down the line with a pacey player and hoping their ST gets a header.. repeatedly. Even if I win its just frustrating to play against someone like that
