If you want to offer me odds Winston...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You were the confident one, you should be offering me odds on!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Solksjaer is 6/1 second favourite to be the next sacked. So I'll give you 5/1. I'll then stick your stake on the 6/1 to cover myself. It's a fair deal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That’s a completely different market and not the point!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You seemed so confident until odds came into the game

Haha touché!

To be fair, I’m that confident that I might get onto the exchange sites and lay Ole for that.

You could lose both bets though if say Silva gets sacked 24th December and Ole on 26 December!

You made a good point on the match going fans Winston as I have to say they've always been a very loyal set of fans who cheer the manager.

My worry would be Ed Woodward and his obsession with Social Media, he's more inclined to look at a twitter poll than listen to the home crowd!

That's sadly very true. You could see this coming years ago though with the removal of 'Football Club' from the badge. It seems that our huge commercial success years ago could not be more of a curse as we're seen more as a cash cow than a football club.

Too true mate - sad times.

Unfortunately I think the owners are more interested in how many zeros he can get on a cheque for the naming rights to the mens toilets than they are for his results on the pitch.

Ole needed supporting in the transfer window this summer. Instead it was a shambles, so a poor season isn’t that much of a shock.

That said, the style of football being as bad to watch as it is is of his own making, for which I’ll have no sympathy when he’s sacked.

He spent nearly £150m. If that isn't supporting, what is? He just chose to spend half of it on a centre back when you already had four centre backs close to his level.

We also released one of our best cm’s, sold our most reliable goal scorer and failed to replace them. He’s a fool for pursuing Maguire given the fee we had to pau, but that doesn’t change the fact he wasn’t supported enough in the market as we failed to address important areas in the squad. Maguire was a club target before Ole turned up, like those before him there’s only so much power the coach has when it comes to signings.

7 league games in and some of you are whining already.

Was always going to happen. Easy to be idealists in pre-season.

You didn't answer the question. If he chose to spent £150m on a central midfielder, winger and right back, would he have been supported?

I suspect he was in for central midfielders but couldn't find the right player.

I'd rather him hold off than panic buy.

I'm sure he could have got say Madisson for much less than the £75m paid for Maguire. He's the type of player you need, creative and scores goals. Also fits in with the current model.

There were loads of the right midfielders out there. He had all summer to bring in at least one midfielder - surely you can’t think that in all of Europe there wasn’t one out there who would have been right for us?

I don't agree that he's the player we need and I don't agree we'd have got him for much less than £75m.

You're over simplying this in order to criticise him.

The club clearly need you as DOF to get it all sorted, Robb.

Other clubs bought midfielders that would have improved us - like for example Tielemans. Are we so picky (to paraphrase you) that we don’t go for anyone out there as none are better than what we have?

I don't know. I don't know who the targets are and what the club tried to do.

Nor do you.

If we sign a best player for us in Jan or next summer, and there turns out to be a reason why we didn't sign them in the summer just gone, that will be fine by me.

If we don't improve central midfield over the next year then it will be a problem.

You can't fix the whole squad in one transfer window.

posted on 1/10/19

No because the squad needed far more work than that. We needed to improve the squad, instead we weakened it. But that doesn’t excuse the bad things he is doing.

Ridiculous comment.

Signing a player simply because he'll improve us right here, right now is not the criteria we should be applying.

There has to be a longer term approach to it than that.

Who’s talking about fixing the whole squad?

We could very easily have bought at least one midfielder who would improve on the shiiitshow in there without breaking the bank or ruining some fantasy long term plan

This is true, we haven’t been able to fix the whole squad in 13 transfer windows.

And if we'd done that, you may well be here moaning that we didn't sign a player in another position.

My point is that Ole made three decent signings in key areas, as well as offloading some expensive rubbish.

It would be lovely if we could have improved in other areas as well but we didn't, and there may be a reason for that. I'm happy to be patient and see what happens in the next two transfer windows.
