At least we all agree that we are utter Boris in the transfer market.
You’ve literally said those things. The club’s approach hasn’t been that different other than nationality. We’ve still massively overpaid for players, not bought the required quality and neglected key areas of the squad.
I find it weird that someone can have faith in our transfer policy after the disaster of last summer, which followed on from a January and summer transger window that were just as bad.
Ole won’t get another summer window either, and around we go with having to adjust the transfer policy because we’ll appoint a coach with different values. It’s all so predictable.

We don’t, that’s the mental thing. Many United fans think we had a good transfer window. It blows my mind that anyone can think that leaving your squad weaker than it was is a good transfer window.

Who said I have faith in our transfer policy?
You’ve decided what I meant and you’re determined to argue it, even though you’ve totally misinterpreted my point.
I disagree that there’s not been a difference - I think there has definitely been a shift and will outline why when I’m at my desk.
As I say though, you seem intent on arguing something I haven’t said, so maybe this is pointless.

Good luck with that.

We’ve just had one of our worst transfer windows in forever. I don’t see much to suggest there’s good planning at United that will see us make a brilliant signing in January. Man United haven’t made a brilliant signing since De Gea.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was actually one of our worst transfer windows in a long time.
But it wasn’t actually as bad as the previous two summers
It is pointless, because like always you continually deny saying things that are there in black and white and try and twist it into a semantic argument because your footballing points all fall down. I’ll leave it at that.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It actually was because we got rid of players that contributed to the team. We didn’t leave our squad weaker in those two summers like we did this summer.
Do you think spending £70m on Fred, Dalot and Lee Grant whilst letting Blind, Ibra and Johnstone go improved the squad?
Fred wouldn’t improve my 5-a-side team. His passing would let us down, honestly.
And don’t get me started on the previous summer. We’d have been better off keeping Rooney, Januzaj and Schweinsteiger
This is what transfermarkt says for 2017/18.
Season 17/18
Victor Lindelöf £31,000,000
Romelu Lukaku £75,000,00
Nemanja Matić. £40,000,000
Alexis Sánchez Swap
That can never be undone. Ever.
I don’t think it improved the squad. But I don’t think it left us as weak as this transfer window did.
Put it this way, last season was a complete disaster yet if we finish sixth this season we’ll probably have done well. Which shows you had bad this summer was.
Should be an extra zero on Lukaku.
He’d have been decent value at £7.5m. More or less.
And we’ve yet to reach the
jamuary window where we can spend £50m on Longstaff.
We sined Harry facking Maguire for £80m. Harry Maguire. No signing we’ve ever made compres to that stupidity.

Part of the reason for the disagreement is that you hate Maguire though I thought he was very good again yesterday.
We did seriously cocccck up by not signing a CF and by letting Smalling go though. Those two decisions were borderline insanity.
We have aerial problems in defence, so we bring in a CB who is dominant in the air. Then let the only other CB we have who can win a header (without committing a foul Marcos) go?
How is replacing Smalling with Maguire supposed to help Lindelof win headers?

At face value or in retrospect?
Because Sanchez.
I hate Matic more. But that summer actually improved the squad, even if we wasted loads of money.
At face value, and in terms of transfer fee. Obviously all things considered Sanchez is the worst signing we’ve made in our history.
