I’m not judging him
I’m saying while I understand a league challenge is out of the question, the team must still maintain a respectable level of performance, or do you just write another season off and put it down to past managers signings??
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why are we even in the same sentence as league challenge at the moment, we didn't even make top 4 last year and our attack as weakened since then.

I think people would be far less critical of the results if Ole wasn't having you play such turgid football
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think with more risky football we'd be getting bet every week tbh.

Is it turgid football in terms of tactics, or is it that we lack the quality in the attacking half of the pitch to implement the football?

Fact of the matter is we've missed a lot of chances as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would say the former tbh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Swap our attack for yours and I bet you'd be no better off, you're only 2 points clear of us now as it is

Lampard is showing Ole how to cope with limitations on bringing in who you want by getting more out of his chelsea players than Ole is with United players. Chelsea actually look exciting and that they have a plan. The future looks bright with them whereas can anyone really see things getting better for us anytime soon?

Largely, one comes with the other though.

I think central midfield is letting us down massively in that respect.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not just CM, Pereira, Mata, Rashford and Lingard have been awful, in fact they just aren't good enough. James is very raw and Martial hasn't been fit.

Bit soon to be making statements like this.

I agree but think you'll see our forward players thrive with the right support behind them.

Play isn't being transitioned quickly enough nor with enough control at present.

Frank and Chelsea are doing well, but it's not like he's had to scrape the barrel from the youth teams. Chelsea have been buying up the best talents in the world and loaning them out since Roman took-over. They aren't poor players with no experience that he's having to piece together.

Not taking anything away from him though as you still have to make it work and he seems to be starting to do that.

They look full of goals and most people who watch both clubs would put their mortgage on chelsea surging ahead.

Since we beat them 4-0 we’ve scored just 5 goals in 6 games. They’ve scored 14 and have CHO in the side now. Surely no one can say that Tammy Welbeck is a better striker than Rashford?

How many games have you seen Chelsea play, rather than watching MOTD?

I'm not saying you're wrong, but they have issues like we do and given the state of affairs in the table, particularly as it's only 7 games in, I really don't see how you can make any conclusions about the two clubs.

I would say though, that I think the fact they have Kante is a major boost. Stick him in our team and it'd be a lot better.

So we're cool with writing off Ole's first 17 games as a new manager bounce, but Lampard's first 7 games mean he's showing Ole how it's done?

Yeah, ok.

we are as bad as i expected us to be. as long as the poisinous delusions and ideologies in the club don't vanish we are not going to get better. the good thing is, once this youth experiment fails as badly as it is going to, we can finally get some people in who know what they are doing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think the club will continue to sign big names - but they'll hopefully now do so with a longer term view.

Ole has been making some pretty dodgy personnel decisions and his refusal to play anything other than a 4231 even when Pogba plays is pretty weird.

Said on the football live thread that Jose would have got hammered for setting up like that at Old Trafford. Even if the results pick up as the season goes on I don't think there's much to suggest that the football is gonna turn into some liverpool-esque stuff. If you're fine with that than fair enough, but I had gotten the impression that the majority of your fanbase was fed up with such negative football.

It may well be a new manager bounce and we’ll see what happens as the season goes on but after losing to us 4-0 they’ve stepped it up whereas we have gotten worse each week and with the month from hell to come I’d be surprised if we saw any improvement at all

Even if Ole isn’t the right guy, and I don’t believe we can know that yet, there’s absolutely no point whatsoever in sacking him at this juncture.

So knowing Woodward, that’s probably exactly what the incompetent moroooon will do next.
