Hate to do this but I am tired of these sort of performances. How is it we don't train our strikers to make runs into space?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I bet you do. Good goalscorers have that instinct in the box. He doesn't because he's not a centre forward.
No matter what he calls himself, he is not a striker and doesn't play like one/ He is an inside forward.
So bizarre of the club to sell Lukaku and not replace him, leaving no option to play Rashford through the middle.
Is he the next Theo Walcott, in that he's much better coming from wide but thinks he should play down the middle, only to frustrate when he's played there? Both lack that clinical edge in front of goal
*no option but to play Rashford through the middle
I’ve always defended Rashford but this is his chance to be a Manchester United CF and he’s blowing it tbh. He has regressed generally and probably needs to stick to a wide position.
On the video though, the first clip he appears to get blocked by Sokratis (I think?), the second ball from the corner his position was fine, the ball came to him quickly from behind a defender, the last one wasn’t a great ball from James, it was straight at the keeper, not fizzed along the six yard box.
*The last one was when he fell over, which was poor, I meant the second to last one was straight at the keeper.

Rash bandicoot, absolute no footballing brain
He'd probably do OK in a two striker setup, just doesn't have the strength or nuance to lead the line by himself.
Selling Lukaku confused the hell out of me. Not only the fact he can lead the line, not perfect but he's capable, but that he'd definitely benefit from a two striker setup (he is at Inter already) which would've given you flexibility. Really poor decision that.

Nothing confusing about it. He didnt want to be here. Not replacing him is the issue
As for Ibra, the bloke hasn't played top flight football in 2 years. If we're going to take the chance on an experience option I'd rather Mandzukic
Lukaku wanted to move as long as he lost his place. People also forget how poor both he and Sanchez had been at United (Lukaku especially last season).
We'd be needing a striker whether he stayed or not. Same with Sanchez.
We needed 5 to 6 players in the summer. We didn't get in a single mf and didn't replace Lukaku. 2 injuries and we're in a crisis here.
I dunno. It seems like every transfer window you approach it with balance issue in the squad and you keep making decisions with just unbalance it more and more.
I look at James and AWB as classic direct footballers who like staying high hugging the line to stretch the pitch which encourages two striker setups to fill in the spaces they'll create at the top of the pitch..... cool, you have Lukaku/Martial/Rashford/Greenwood who appear to be a decent starting point for a two striker system.... and then you sell Lukaku who on paper would benefit the most from it??? It's really confusing to me
The really funny thing is I still don't look at your team as nearly as bad as everyone else does, it just needs one decent transfer window where some controversial calls are made to address the overall balance and you'll be fine. It just never happens.
Hasn’t he just signed a new contract to?
His confidence appears to be shot, he showed early promise. He genuinely could look at Vardy's play and how he finds space with movement, he's excellent at it.

Indeed. Unfortunately that will always be the case as long as we have an absolute moron in charge of transfers.
Aside from Herrera (who was out of our hands) every player who has left under Ole needed to leave. I have no qualms about any of them.
Not replacing them has left our squad paper thin. But im also in favour not going down the route of buying for the sake of it. It's one of the things that has left us in such a mess in the first place.

They can teach you how to make runs. Rashford can learn this. Rooney learnt it, he can.

This. Absolutely the same issue with Martial.
We have to remember that Rashford is still 21 years old though. Patience will be required. He’s not close to the finished article.
Inside forward...
Jumpers for goalposts....marvellous

The lad is drained of confidence.... The fallout from that pen miss has scared him... Too much pressure being place on him by the fans. Will need time to find his feet again.
We have a very good player here... Fans should be protecting him rather than throwing him under the bus
