When you look at the EPPIOF (expected points per inch of forehead) United are top yet this hasn't translated to points. I don't think there's been a side dominate the BTH (brow to hairline) ratio this much yet fail to convert it to points since Gervinho was at Arsenal

Coupled with the EGPCN (expected goals per clueless Norwegian) again United running first for CNs but last for goals scored it's not surprising they are where they are.

The only side in a similar position are Spurs with an EPPTBW (expected punches per teammate banging wife) ratio of 1 putting them top.

Statistically this year is a anomaly with United almost guaranteed to win the Septuple next season as well as make Brexit a great success.

Liverpool will most likely lose against Man Utd. Last time Liverpool were hanging on against an injury ravaged Man Utd side. If you watched the last 20 minutes of that match you would think Man Itd were going for the title and Liverpool were trying to stay ip as Man Utd who were going to plan C due to injuries where the only side trying to win and came close a few times.

How are expected chances calculated before a game is played? Sounds like Voodoo to me.

Yeah I missed the memo mate. Codswallop if you ask me. Expected goals doesn't account for the unexpected, so these stats are horse sheet. Did anyone expect Leicester to only have 3-4 shots on goal? Highly unlikely, so if he has them stats then I'd be interested to see them. I suspect they don't exist though.

Its funny nearly every team has been extremely clinical against Southampton away and Southampton are extremely wasteful. When we play Southampton away they are extremely clinical and we are extremely wasteful. A side who normally dominates teams but loses we are the side to completely dominate them and draw.

Interesting to see we finished with the same expected points away from home as Liverpool with 32.58 points even though Liverpool finished with 15 more points away from home.

Overall Liverpool finished with 3.29 more expected points, even though they finished 33 points ahead of us. I won't be surprised if they don't get top 4 next season. No way can they get as lucky next season.

97 points and 99 points actually. If you actually look at the stats of the games, there is virtually nothing between Man Utd and Liverpool this season. Just grinding results.

Manchester United: C+

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says his Manchester United team should be proud of the way they finished the season, after securing third place and Champions League qualification

I'm not enamoured by Manchester United. I think they're miles away. They finished third, but Leicester fell apart a bit, Chelsea were stumbling all over the place, take nothing away from them getting into the Champions League or from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer personally, but the reality is still that they've been poor.

Leicester 0-2 Manchester United - Match report and highlights

They got there because of the failure of some of the other teams. We know Bruno Fernandes has given them a massive lift, at the back I don't think they've improved dramatically, I don't think their defenders or full-backs are the best defenders, and I don't think they're a passing machine in midfield too. There's a lot of work still to be done.

But making the Champions League mitigates some of that. There's been improvement, but I don't think it's been as eye-catching as some of the other teams.

Shows you pundits don't watch, they just have a completely wrong opinion and stick to it. Probably the most improved side in the league performance wise.

Its amazing I have seen so many pundits who thought we would struggle to even stay up now laughing that we finished 3rd. Probably the biggest turnaround in form since our 14/15 season when we were struggling and went on title winning form for 22 games.

There could be a nuclear apocalypse that wipes everyone out and there will still be a thread on here in which Hafi will continue to contribute on his own.

He's probably right about his Charlie Nicolas post though. He does seem particularly bitter towards United.

Dismissing title winning form and trolling one of the best defences in the premierleague to get 3rd just shows they don’t know what they are on about. The reason our form was so great was because we were solid at the back and created a lot of clear chances going forward. Even after premierleague restarted we missed plenty of sitters. If we carry this level of domination to next season, we should be looking as one of the favourites for the title. Our actual stats for domination compare similar to Liverpool.
