Is he talking about Arsenal? If so he clearly hasn't watched us for years and like many fans & pundits peddles the myth that we still play "pretty" over complicated football.
There may have been a time when we did but you'd have to go back many years to find it. Even towards the end of Wenger's reign we were fuctional and mostly turgid, the expansive slick passing with a lack of end product is long gone.
The good thing is that when any pundit comes out with such drivel you can instantly forget about them as a credible reader of the game. The same chumps will be calling Lingard a young prospect
