Hmmm , only fans of the team in question refer to themselves as the best team not win anything. If it makes you sleep well at night... great. TBH Id rather watch a serial winner like Chelsea who chop & change manager or Leicester who had the balls to pull off one of greatest achievements in modern football. I'm a fan of football & watching Spurs win games. I don't pay for a season ticket to "participate in a project" in that case the club should be paying me ! Its all about the here & now !

Go and support Chelsea then.

We're the complete opposite of Leeds. Over the last few years we have established ourselves as a top club and the platform is now there.

We are very much like Arsenal. Look at them now, however bad they are, however much the fans moan, they always finish in the top 6. They are a massive club and although they are struggling to progress to the next level, they aren't falling back to a regular midtable club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well before we used to say they always finished in the top 4 so you can't exactly say they haven't been falling backwards. No guarantees they'll keep finishing in the top 6 either. They do however have the resources that you'd think would make them safe from falling too far back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They had what 20 or so top four finishes, and only in the last two or three seasons have finished in top six. Spurs have had three or four top four finishes, and look nowhere like finishing, anywhere but the bottom half of the table on the current trajectory.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing lasts forever.

Arsenal have fallen back from top 4 to top 6 because Man City bought their way in and we have got out act together.

Have a look at club revenues. We are now double Everton, the next in line. You can punch above your weight for a while (as we have shown over recent years) but money is how you progress. Unless another Sheikh comes along we won't be falling out the top 6 (regularly, there can always be a Chelsea style season)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we could usurp Arsenal, then I suppose it's likely some team could usurp us, since we do very much look now like we are or will be in a transitional period. Maybe Leicester are the team to do that? I mean spending money is good and all and usually wins you stuff but sometimes it just takes a good team with some momentum to do it.

Anyway, it's all well and good having the finances but you actually need to use them correctly. Yet to be convinced Baldy ever will.

Arsenal comparison is nonsense and lazy. Of course theres some similarities but you could go through most clubs and find something familiar at spurs.

Based on what are Spurs a sleeping giant?!

We are nothing like Leeds, we have a penny pinching, financially astute and prudent chairman who looks after his bottom line. Leeds had an irresponsible and foolish gambler as their chairman, and it backfired massively.

We aren’t the new Leeds. They were trying to buy trophies and ultimately it cost them their financial status. That is nothing like us at all. They weren’t even that good a side, certainly not a patch on the Arsenal and Utd teams of the time, which is why they never won anything.

We’re not the Newcastle of the 90’s. Similarly they were spending fortunes trying to buy the league, with no long term plan to grow or sustain the club.

We aren’t the new Arsenal. They were a big and successful club who have declined over 15 years of mismanagement and other clubs overhauling them. We were coming from the other direction, trying to catch clubs like them up.

We are Spurs. A club that wanted to grow its brand and build its infrastructure so that we could move up a level and done at the top table. We appointed a coach to work on a budget and with young players to navigate us through a period of low spend, in the hope by the time it was finished we’d be ready to be a regular CL club. The problem is that we peaked too early as the coach did a better job than anyone expected. Where we were in 2016/17 is where we would’ve wanted to be now. Finishing 3/2/3/4th and making a CL final far outstrips our net investment in the squad. That lack of net investment is now coming home to roost, but because expectations have been exceeded, they remain raised. As such, we have a situation where fans are demanding trophies and CL football from a squad in major decline and a manager in probable burnout from 5 years intense work.

Are we one of the best teams not to win anything? I’d say no. Our 16/17 side, when we finished on 86 points with most goals scored, least conceded and unbeaten at home (W17 D2) was arguably one of the best PL runners up teams are undoubtedly our peak under Poch. A shame that Chelsea with no Europe built such a lead in the autumn that we couldn’t overhaul it, as we’d have been worthy Champions. All our other seasons under Poch we’ve been a very solid top 4 team but not much more than that.

COYS!!

Need a good, confident start grabbing an early goal to relax nerves then hopefully push on with a good 3 or 4 nil win.
