I think he's referring to the supposed commentary by the Rangers TV guy that it was getting fired towards the East End. Not heard it myself tbh

Know what concerns me about the whole 'poppy debate'? That ex-service personnel are being let down by the various charities set up to look after their interests. We all hear about ex-service people being destitute, homeless, unemployed and perhaps unemployable because of their mental health issues. Why is this happening? Britain's 10 biggest military charities have combined assets of £1.4 BILLION pounds and reserves of £275 million raising concerns they may be hoarding cash. For example, the wealthiest military charity, the Royal British Legion launched its annual poppy appeal last week - last year recorded income of £163.2 million against expenditure of £136.7 million and has reserves of £70 million. Every organisation needs reserves but that level of reserves represents 40% of its annual income! I've no idea the level of salaries and benefits being paid to those at the top of the these charities - but see the next time people talk about ex-service personnel struggling - maybe we should be asking why these charities are not spending money helping them instead of hoarding cash by building up even more reserves.

Support the troops.
Just kidding. The same could be said of all charities.
Iver here they only have to give 10% of money collected to the folk who need it. Scandalous.

Well over here, and especially in Scotland, OSCR (look it up ya lazy feck) the Scottish charities' regulator would instigate an investigation into any charity that only passed on 10% of its income to its charitable objectives. And rightly so. OSCR was set up after a charity called Moonbeams went under in 2003. "Moonbeams Charity Boss Pays Back £50,000. The charity went under in 2003 after it emerged that only £70,000 of £3million raised for sick children actually went to the young cancer sufferers. A court froze the accounts of Moonbeams - who sold sweets in pubs - and moves began to wind up the Edinburgh charity". C(o)unts total utter c(o)unts.
You raise the money for charitable purposes then spend it on those charitable purposes. Don't sit on it and don't pay fat cat wages.
