Considering Mandzukic hasn’t played a single minute for Juve this season Id say it’s unlikely he’ll hit the ground running if we did get him. He has qualities we could do with but I think he’d need time to adjust considering his lack of match fitness, age and getting to grips to a new league mid season.

That’s a good point. We really facked ourselves over with this striker situation. Such an incompetent club.

Mandzukic would be such a panic buy it would be embarassing... Would show we haven't learned anything from the Sanchez debacle... Might as well bring back Zlatan.

Haaland is interesting... Not expecting anything useful to happen in Jan though. Not a good time to be entering the market in desperation.

If we didn't sign anyone I wouldn't lose much sleep...

I feel like he is one of those players that you can't miss out on if you have a chance to get him. I said we had missed a trick when he left Molde. I reckon if the deal hadn't already been agreed to RB that Ole would have made him his first signing. He would give us something different up top and from what I have seen of him has the attributes to operate through the middle or as a wide forward.

Signing Mandy isn’t like signing Sanchez. Silly comparison.

Talk about a reach. He is going to be short term, with a low financial outlay and fully aware of his situation as a back up. Nothing close to the stupidity that was Sanchez which EVERYONE COULD SEE (well except Robb and Jose)

I agree. You just know if he goes elsewhere he will be a huge success, bagging goals galore.

One of those transfers (there have been many over thebyears) that seems a no brainer to fans.

Mandzukix is a big no for me.

The point of Mandzukic in January is that it would be short term and a change of tactics when we go behind. One of our major issues this season has been that we look bereft of ideas when we are trailing and teams sit back.

Yes but we need a short term squad option at cf. Having someone that can come in and allow us to change the way we play when chasing a goal isn’t really a negative. Because as you say, we have problems breaking teams down which would suggest problems with our approach in the first place. Having an actual cf in the squad isn’t a bad thing. And the comparison with Sanchez is daft. They aren’t comparable situations.

Because he’s actually a presence in the box. The fact we need to improve other areas doesn’t change that.

He’s not ideal, but it’s not the worst option on a short contract. And it’s nothing like the Sanchez situation either.

I partly agree with RDD, I am not sure we have the tools in the squad to get much out of Mandzukic, even as a plan B. We saw it last season with the much better Lukaku. We just didn't have the players or setup to get much out of him.

We need a plan B, no doubt.. But that plan B can still be dynamic and fit plan A too (if Martial is injured). Someone like Josh King, as mentioned above, might be a better fit.

Lukaku isn’t a target man, but he was still our top scorer under Ole.

If you guys sign Josh King over Mandzukic I'll let out a bit of wee.

At least sign Bournemouth’s best striker.
