He’s always looked like Bambi on ice but because he was our biggest signing people overlooked it and just focused on the good side.

He never fills me with any confidence. Seems like you can guarantee he's got 3 mistakes in him a game. Odd player as he looks like he has all the physical attributes to be a monster but he's not

I think he's another one where the onus will be on Poch to improve him. Wouldn't get our money back if we sold & I doubt Levy wants a 45mln quid CB sitting on the bench

Don't rate him at all. Promising first season but has regressed since. Poor on the ball and poor positionally. Very weak for a CB of his size too. The way the shef utd striker turned him then missed from 6 yards out was embarrassing.

The more I look at our squad and what's needed to improve the sadder I get.

I like Ake. Bournemouth is a good experience for a CB too. Have to be comfortable on the ball and have plenty to do.

He has many poor moments. There are also good moments in there and signs he can go on to be a decent defender because he's young. But we're now into the third season with him and if anything he's looked worse than in his first season so hard to know if he'll be a future regular for us.

Not good enough.

He's OK. Does a great job overall, but has his moments (fairly regularly)...

He's still very young and has a lot to learn. Most CBs don't reach their prime until they're 28.

He'll get better

Probably the longest run he's had in the team, he spent most of the last 2 years on the bench and Verts + Toby were always 1st choice. Couple this with he never plays alongside the same CB for more than one game in a row...

Dunno about "great job" mate... that's a stretch. I dont think anyone at Spurs has done great job this season but you're right, he does have time on his side & a longer run in the team should help

Yeah, probably was a bit too far. Maybe a "good job"... If he had better protection from the flanks and a regular partner, I'm sure he'd be 10x better

Good player, and a big part of the future. He will be a good asset going forward.

Really struggles against strikers who are stronger than him

Obviously fairly awful on the ball and pretty meh when it comes to most defensive stuff, sloppy positionally, over aggressive etc.

He's silly fast though and is alright aerially considering the issue he has with strength

Really could go either way for him but can't see him ever getting good enough on the ball for me to be a massive fan of him

He's a great skill set. I like him.

HE does have his strengths, but always looks uneasy to me and looks like he’s always liable to a mistake. Didn’t help that he was partnered with a god awful Eric Dier last weekend, who pretty much gave the ball away at every opportunity. I think we need a top class centre back signing next summer to partner Sánchez. He needs someone beside him.

I watch Bournemouth quite often (mate is a season ticket holder) and Ake is absolutely top drawer.

His reading of the game, calmness and positioning reminds me of Ledley King. I was at the Bomo / Utd game two weeks ago and he gave Utd nothing all game.

I'm convinced he's going to become one of the best CBs in the league. We should be all over it.

Everyone gave the ball away at the weekend. Singling out Dier is a bit harsh.

Sanchez is good enough. just needs am athletic left footed CB that can read the game next to him.

This should be high priority for Poch to give balance IF Poch insists on playing out the back at every opportunity

You can easily make an argument for us needed a whole new defence, including keeper, going into next season

Look at the 5 who started against the blades

Gazza
Aurier Sanchez Dier Davies

Are any of them champions league players really? Obviously a couple of them aren't first choice but the alternatives are either leaving regardless or are not good enough either

posted on 13/11/19

He is error prone, has ordinary distribution and gets caught out positionally at times. Then another day he can look top class, time will tell whether he can become consistent enough. He still has time on his side to improve further, but we still need to bring in at least 1 proven CB and probably 2.

He worries me when he’s on the ball

I just want him to boot it out of play

Quality? He's been up and down, improved with more game time but nothing overly impressive

Gazza and Sanchez are fine, the others are not quite the best in the world.

Bournemouth wanted 70m for Ake in the summer. I don't think Levy will sanction that. Dier a d Sanchez will replace Toby and Verts as the first choice CB pairing next season.
