There's a fair few London experts now coming out saying Rangers have actually got off lightly as they didn't pay a penny

Fwcking DR running with it now.

And buried deep down in the text “ Conflicting claims insist HMRC have made no such admission and have only agreed to adjust their numbers to help smooth through the legal process which began more than four years ago when oldco Rangers went under.”

Always on the ball.

Twitter was amazing yesterday.

Some of them actually believe they're due 50 million back

The thing about Twitter is that it’s an echo chamber for half-wits.

Especially football fans who only follow people who like the same team.

No matter what team is involved Twitter would be exactly the same. Mainly crackpot theories with a little bit of sense (if you can find it)

Makes no sense that HMRC drop their claim if it is correct.

As for legal process, and as much as insolvency is that, I didn’t know there were any more court cases on this?

It’s headline is that the players who benefited from the EBT’s are going to be let off

That’s personal tax and nothing to do with company taxation. They really are dumb as fwck

It makes perfect sense, the administrators then agree and they get the close to the same figure they would have got regardless if they still fought for an extra 50 million or whatever it is.

Only this time they get it and the oldco can finally be liquidated.

It's worth nothing that as it stands, even with the 50 million drop, HMRC would be lucky to get 5% of what they're owed back.

So if they’ve suddenly dropped their claim it was because BDO’s tax team challenged them - and they’re not fighting that.

If the 50m claim was correct they’d get another couple million. If they’re now only claiming 20m they’d only get what half a mil. Might seem small in comparison to the numbers, but that’s what HMRC do day in day out. Won’t be there first time dealing with EBTs and if it’s makes even less sense to drop it.

They haven't dropped any claim.

BDO also admitted months ago that they wouldn't contest the claims on the basis HMRC provided a revised figure.

And BDO statement is saying your claim is wrong, revise it.

In other news, Hibs appointing Jack Ross seems a very good appointment.

Hearts after Stuart McCall and Neil McCann.

Of course they haven't dropped their claim, if they had dropped the claim then the rest of the cash would be going to other creditors.

Even the wee face painter might get his score back.
