I wouldn't call the CL a tinpot league just because we are not good enough to be in it. It's arguably higher standard than the Europa League for me.

I think we’ve found a top striker in Martial, anybody we buy should be back up for him. He’s improved our game so much since he’s been back.

You probably should go for a more experienced head

Why not? I don't think his Dad would advise against it if it was the best move for his career.

I think he will get a better move personally. The boy is going to be one of the very best.

He's a Leeds fan and his Dad an ex-City player, both reasons why he wouldn't choose United. Ole is a reason he would though having played under him before but even if it's possible United could tempt him, it becomes increasingly difficult if another big club that are further forward than United come in.

Basically if another big side want him, United won't get him imo.

I think £85m represents a huge risk. His touch doesnt seem out of this world or anything and that should be a worry at that price.

i dont think anyone else would be daft enough to pay 85 million for him right now

One of the best strikers in the world if we get him, massively overrated and dodged a bullet, if we don't.

Far too much of a gamble - ridiculous price.

He's doing it in the CL too. I know he's worked with Ole so I'd trust his judgement over anybody else's.

People on this site will never admit their wrongs. Martial has been superb this season and has a really well rounded game up front, yet people are still saying he's better out wide, I don't know what they're watching.

Better than Lukaku and he was 80m so...

Someone will pay the money required to get him.

Lukaku?

posted on 14/11/19

We are missing an opportunity here.

Other clubs are not going to pay £85m for a RB Salzburg striker.
But imagine how much they’d pay for the main striker at the biggest club in the world (Man Utd), probably double that price to be fair. And that’s IF we sell him.

So buy promising striker from mediocre club for £85m
Next day, sell main striker at the biggest club in the world for £170m.

Buy Mbappe.

Makes perfect sense. It’s called business.

His touch looks decent.

Lukaku's first touch was a pass.

He is an extremely powerful runner tbf.

You got rid of a similar player in Lukaku due to him apparently not fitting your style, despite you having one of the lowest amount of chances created outside of set pieces and one of the highest with set pieces. Doesn't seem likely to me.

If hes better, theres nothing wrong bringing him in. He looks the real deal. Pace size and finishing has never gone wrong in the league and he's got it in loads.

He's not a similar player to Lukaku, watch his link up play and you won't be saying that.

He takes cute little touches around the box, is inventive and bursts away from people while managing to keep hold of the ball.

I've been saying it since i first saw him, he will be one of the top strikers on the planet.

They are only similar in that they are decent in the air. Haaland has a much better touch from what I have seen, can beat a player with a trick and looks to pass and move.

Lukaku has always had a bad touch and has been lazy and also lost his powerful running in recent years.

I think that this lad will go on to be something special. I was touting for us signing him to replace Lukaku before he left for RB, but I don't think that was ever really possible, as the deal with RB had already been agreed.

He looks a serious talent and his physicality at 19 has certainly helped when playing at this sort of level.

The prospect of having an 18yr old Greenwood and 19yr old Haaland on the books is quite mouth-watering from a long term attacking perspective...

The lad scored 9 goals in a single WC U20's game. Scored 2 vs Napoli, 1 vs Liverpool and a hat trick vs Genk.

In hindsight, we'd have all happily paid £160m for Mbappe.

I don't think his style is too dissimilar from Lukakus, but he had better technique, he can drive forward with the ball and keep it in tight spaces. He also makes use of his physique unlike Rom.
