Worryingly a bang average coach like Southgate is getting a lot more out of the Spurs players than Pochettino is. Kane was awful at the weekend, but looked like a completely different player last night. Worth thinking about, are our players off form, or our manager just not getting the best out of them anymore.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandy our fullbacks are so poor and have such a detrimental affect on our play overall. Two high quality pacey fullbacks would transform our team in my opinion. Once upon a time we had them, but one had his head turned and was sold, the other is no longer the same player.

I'd say England's team last night was comfortably better than Spurs' best XI (on current form), and certainly more inventive in terms of attacking movement and creativity. No wonder Kane was freed up to play as a proper goalscorer rather than having to drop back and play in midfield.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They have a population of 600k
Spurs would have destroyed them too with ease. The PL is played at a much faster pace. Comparing England playing pub teams to Spurs playing PL and top tier Euro sides is a bit of a non starter really.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Norwich would've seen them off
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly. Manchester alone has 6 times the population of their whole country 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not suggesting otherwise. I still think England's team is better - or at least, contains better players - than Spurs' current best XI. Regardless of the opposition.
I see Winks as a Xavi or Modric type player who need good players and system around them to excel at what they're good at (moving the ball around, starting the attack and usually the assist of the assist).
I remember Modric getting the same accusations in the beginning of his Spurs career (what does he do, what does he offer etc) specially from oppo fans while he was at Spurs.
I have no idea why declan faaackin rice was getting games ahead of him for England
Against the big teams It makes sense but when we're playing nothing but pub teams why do we have a bloke who can barely play a pass anchoring the midfield ffs

Absolutely right, no facking idea.
Look forward to Tomkins response on this, I'm sure he is reading.
Our regular full backs wouldn't even be able to put crosses on a game of tic-tac-toe. Just have to make do with them for now.

didnt you want us to sign him though?
Declan Rice is the new Eric Dier. Clearly a centre half playing out of position. Horribly limited in midfield and has no place in a side wanting to play progressive football.

I don't think so? I think he's a decent DM and the kind of player we need but considering the price and who he plays for I cant imagine I suggested him

Harsh calling him the new Dier, wait until he is shocking in a couple of years time.
Not convinced Dier is a CB either, especially the required quality for a club with top 4 ambitions.
