Sounds like you have had a real tough time but ultimately been reminded about what matters most in life which all of us can take for granted and lose sight of. The main thing is you're still with us thanks to the skill of the NHS which despite its detractors saves many thousands of lives each year and you're here to enjoy, if that's the right word, the Leeds United ride.
Look forward to seeing your posts again whatever their content.

Thanks for sharing a very personal journey, one of the beauties of this place is that you can share stuff like this with people with some sort of a common theme.

Sometimes unfortunate situations prove to be lucky ones in the grand scheme of things, I’m glad you found it that way, I have had similar in the past and it’s changed my outlook too.

NHS saved my life 4.5 years ago and again a couple of weeks ago. Certainly not perfect but thank G-d we have them and they deserve all the support that they can get.

Thanks for this welcome perspective, Elland, good to hear you are recovering and ready to battle it out on this board with the rest of us.

Thank-you for sharing Elland, please to hear that they managed to identify your cancer early.
Here's wishing you a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks for sharing your story. On this site people have their disagreements but it is always worth remembering what really matters in life.health, family and happiness.

I too have had my life transformed by the NHS in the last 6 months and I would say it is perhaps the greatest asset this country has.Perhaps we don't always appreciate it until it is needed.
5 stars.

Best wishes for your full and speedy recovery, Elland White. Close shaves with death are obviously life-changing - and what you've written here is proof that you have managed this situation in your life very well.
I was on the slab staring at the end of my world in 2015 so I know where you're coming from. Reads to me like you're doing alright in the circumstances.

And yes, SOLIDARITY WITH OUR NHS!!! Don't let those barstewards in London sell it off to Trump. What a brilliant service we have - and it's very cost efficient compared with the US over the long-term. It's one of the things that I am especially proud of - that and policeman who don't carry firearms - and the football, of course!

Keep fighting the good fight, Elland White!

Wish you a full & speedy recovery Elland. It is not easy and glad the NHS worked for you.

Thanks for sharing Elland, it’s great to know that you’re on the mend, let’s hope the team can give you a tonic too.

Thank you Elland for opening up on your experiences at your time of life. I wish you well for the future and hope your recovery continues apace.
I was born in St James just over 81 years ago and I am always pleased to hear it continues to serve the public in Leeds and surrounding areas. The NHS is often criticized in some media outlets and will always be made into a political football. It remains and will always remain at the heart of the UK as long as they are happy to pay through their taxes for its long term free use. I have always found that any contact my family or friends they always hold it in hard regard.
Good health to you.

Elland White, am about your age too, you are right , we often moan about minor things in our daily life - what you went through makes these stupid things we all complain about so insignificant - I have so much respect for your attitude, you are the old shool like me, and I take off my hat for your comments, I know you will make the most of your life after what you have been through, and we should too, whatever happens to us. Leeds forever .....

My mother passed away last Friday and the Saturday after my partners father was rushed into hospital to have emergency surgery on his brain. Was a crazy few days. Then Monday the 3 shirt centenary box arrived and cheered me up no end.
following leeds I’ve felt the ups and downs and this club certainly feels like a family especially when at Elland road. There is no club like it

Elland - I wish you a very long happy and prosperous future.

Batty - been there a few times down the years and your right out club is the one constant in a sometimes very trying and perplexing world. ( when our club was under threat in recent times it really hurt as the consistent thread was at serious risk)
