‘From the outside looking in, Spurs look as though they are primed to take on the elite sides in world football.’

We came second in Europe’s biggest competition last Season. We were already a elite club. Doesn’t take a circus act like José to make us a elite club.

Mourinho has challenged for the title just once in the last six years of management

Hi there. I am a big Manchester United fan and I can honestly say you guys have got the right man. He turned us from nobodies under Van Gaal to treble winners in 16/17 and led us to a second place finish against all of the odds. This is with players like Lingard, Young, Jones, Matic, Fellaini etc. Imagine what he can do with the world class players he has at Spurs. Kane, Eriksen, Alderweireld, Lloris. The spine of a world class team that could win the lot next season. I am a very jealous man at the moment as we are stuck with Ole. All the best from a big MUFC fan. x

interesting article.

i think that the three main issues are...

1. people don't like that poch was sacked, mutual agreement would have softened the blow, but most accept that the form was unacceptable and had no signs of turning around.

2. concern around style of play we can expect under mourinho. that said the football under poch lately has been some of the worst i have ever seen at spurs.

3. how will mourinho operate without a huge transfer budget.

his trophy record speaks for itself, but is he a good fit for spurs?

Half of that was at your gash side, so that’s unfair. You were nobodies without him and will be nobodies now he’s gone.

I don’t even like the bloke, but an idiot can see you were better with him.

I’d say you have the core of players he’d need. Solid defensive outfit with some outstanding forward players that can win games.

Be interesting to see if Levy invests, because this is the prime moment to challenge for a title.

You’ve got one of the very few managers who can compete with Pep and have the core of players already there.

Great article OP.

Unfortunately far to many of our supporters have losers mentalities, so may take a time to change their mindset.

I personally think this is the best managerial appointment this century for Spurs. This could another Bill Nicholson moment, takes over a team sliding towards relegation and turns them into serial winners.

Excellent analysis from Chronic. To which I would add a fourth point - Which players currently nearing the end of their contract, might be inclined to stay (and that he wants to keep) to try to win a major trophy under Mourinho?

And the two years with Chelsea as well, and the feck does an iiinbred Leeds fan think he is telling people what club is relevant or not? Where have you been the last 15 years

Why couldn’t he compete with Pep in the 2.5 years in charge at United you dopey nonce?

To which I would add a firing point. We demand loyalty from players but show none of it as a club in terms of how we pay them or behave as a club. I’m sure this all will have made it easier for Harry to inevitably walk away from Spurs when the time comes with his head held high.

He won the league with Chelsea.

He inherited an abysmal United side, won 2/3 trophies and got you to second.

Not going to bother speaking to you because you’re obviously as thick as they come. But it’s going to be a long time until you get in the top 2/3 again.

Should’ve kept Pochettino. What was it, 24 points in 25 games? Masked by a lucky cup run in the CL.

Bloke has won as much as me as a manager.

1.89 - Jose Mourinho’s points per game ratio at Manchester United (1.89) was exactly the same as Mauricio Pochettino’s at Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League (1.89). Replacement.

Top signing

we don't demand loyalty... we expect players to give their all when being paid by the club... and the players downed tools.

if eriksen said he was leaving but still was putting in quality performances you think people would be on his back???
