Well you can almost guarantee vertonghen and by association alderweireld will improve. And likely eriksen.

Your last comment is also the telltale sign whether this relationship between a miser like Levy and a serial spender like Jose can work together.
But this is the era of football when clubs spend big to "buy" glory. Just look at the top 2 of the league.
Maybe, the baldy has to learn to let loose of his purse strings a bit?
The shocker !
all 3 of them off in the summer. maybe Levy is daft enough to see this appointment as a way of turning their heads to sign extentions. doubt it though.

There is not a chance in my mind that levy won't give Jose a bucket load of cash in Jan and the summer
I reckon You might be challenging for the title
Pains me to say it but the more I think about it the more I think this is a very good appointment for spurs
Poch got you to the cusp but Jose might just take you forward
I think you will be serious challengers next season

Focus will probably be on Mourinho convincing Eriksen and other contract rebels to sign a new deal. Spend the rest of the season doing best we can and then getting rid of players and buying new in the summer.

I think he saw that with the squad we have, may be some on the longer contracts would not tolerate a massive rebuild with a high risk young manager.
Jose can 100% work with what we have. Compared to United we have very good CBs, several DMs including Dier who Jose wanted at Utd, quality attacking options including a strong No.9 and a range of options in the CM.
Jose has said we do not need to spend big to improve and i believe this. Next year if we lose Toby Verts (think he'll stay) Eriksen & Rose then may be some big spending required.
Let's hope he still wants Fred and Lindelof. Hes welcome to them.

We didn't spend anything last summer and bought wisely after a huge sale the previous year. And have Leicester spent that much?
The more I think of it, the more I believe Jose didn't sign the contract on the basis of funds made available but for the squad as it currently stands. I think he's hoping to change the minds of Eriksen, Toby, Verts and Rose. If he manages it, then he has a squad of players he's previously been desperate for in other roles. He's always liked strong physical players and we definitely have that but I worry about what this means for players like Parrott or other academy boys.

Agreed.
Jose Mourinho has spent more money on transfers managing in England than Tottenham have since Daniel Levy took charge of Spurs in October 2001.
Mourinho's English spending:
£925m overall
Average fee £17.8m
Tottenham spending under Levy:
£876m overall
Average fee £7.8m
Eriksen, Toby, Verts will all sign new deals and we will sign Fernandes, Dybala, Matic and Maicon in January
We're going to go from signing loads of Argentinians to loads of Portuguese
Maicon today would be better than Aurier
