Decent start to Mourinho`s career

I think Jose's time here will be defined by whether or not Levy backs him.

Imo in January a DM and RB are absolutely necessary.

Good result yesterday especially away from home and long overdue.

I was hoping Mourinhos time away had made him reevaluate the modern game and perhaps even our team in the past 5 years and realise we were at our best playing the high intensity energy pressing game. For me Poch lost his USP as a manager when we stopped pressing the opposition and letting them have the ball and run rings around us.

It’s amazing how many managers these days mention the press in their match interviews which shows they have embraced and seen it’s effectiveness from Poch, klopp and Guardiolas teams. I honestly don’t think you can be a success in this league anymore if you don’t embrace it. You only have to look at the improvement this has made to a young Chelsea team.

Mourinho needs to look to use the press especially against the poorer teams in the league and then let our quality shine through. Poch let too many average teams play against us which eventually cost him his job. Early days but am hoping Mourinho does not fail for the same reason.

We were good for 60 minutes yesterday

Biggest mistake Jose made was bringing on Eriksen as soon as he come on along with Rose the team seemed to lose all effort , both players are disrespecting the club imo with there comments and lack of commitment and the other players know this.

I’d be happy to see neither of them in a Spurs shirt again.

Agreed mate, when both Eriksen and Sissoko came on Spurs got progressively worse. Although I have to say when Antonio came on for West Ham, allowing one player to change the game so much in West Ham`s favour should never be allowed to happen. It was if Messi had suddenly appeared.

No coincidence Eddy. Especially the Dane. I understand the manager might be hoping for a bounce from these two but it didn't come.

Momentum shifted when west ham pulled a goal back. We retreated and they stepped up their efforts. Happens in football week in week out . Really don’t think it’s much to do with Eriksen and Sissoko.

Davies picked up an injury yesterday, so we might be seeing Rose again in our shirt as early as Tuesday night. Unless, that is, Jose gets bold and gives Sessegnon a try at LB - then again he's not known for giving youngsters a go in must-win games

Yesterday I was actually excited and couldn't wait for the match. Probably a combination of new manager and the fact that it was José tbh.

Sadly haven't felt like that this season since the Arsenal match. But he really needs to instill a mental toughness into the defence and get them well drilled and we should be ok.

Would also like to see GLC integrated into the team and cut Eriksen out completely. Hopeful that he won't him off Sessegnon and can develop him. Believe he can be a real weapon for us.

Wonder when Hugo is back will he automatically reclaim the No1 jersey as I really have no confidence in Lloris at the best of times.

Can't wait for Olympiacos in midweek either.

Good win. That's the toughest out of the 3 games we had coming up, although the Bournemouth game smells very much of banana skin.

As far as sales and bringing players in, we don't know how much money will be available and who Jose really wants to keep. I imagine we'll still be getting rid of Eriksen though and I would hope another RB will be on the list. We know he rates Dier but he was poor yesterday and I don't know if he can reach a top quality standard. Someone like Fernandinho at City is streets ahead in that role.

The little money Levy will make available needs to be spent elsewhere, not on a replacement for Lloris, who is a top GK, albeit he does make the odd gaff.

Gazzaniga is doing well and should be first choice even if both are fit and available right now.

I think Gazzaniga is one of the few plusses so far. He looks really, really decent.

Hopefully another historic moment will follow this coming week, back to back wins.

Here you go, Sandy.......
"So, who will Jose buy in the next two transfer window? Fairly obvious money needs to be spent on the defence, just one clean sheet in the Prem this season, which means that Spurs have to score at least two every game if they are to win matches. Not sure which players are available, but I think at least a commanding CB is needed to really get on top of the real weakness at the back, and that is the defending of set pieces or any high balls into the box, the amount of goals Spurs concede from high balls just pumped into the box is unreal."

Quite right .... in fact 2 CBs needed.
And Dybala!
And a couple of realy good wing backs.
Think Levy will cough up for that lot?

Letting in 2 goals in the last 20 was abominable.
Mourinho has got to do something about that!!
