Worth a read about Ole

So basically we should stick with Ole because if he succeeds it would be a sweeter success than with a manager without a connection with Utd?

That would be an emotional argument, not a rational one.

Bit stupid and massively naive and overly romanticised in an era where we need to be far more realistic. Maybe we can hire Booby Charlton as assistant manager too.

Reckon SBC would spend the entire transfer budget on stationary.

Techno Drôme. So basically no, that's not what he said. Because you missed out three quart of what he said.

I didn't find much substance to what he was saying about the manager situation.

That's because you don't agree with the premise. If he had said Ole out you would have found it suited you.

But that is the gist of the article and it’s incredibly naive.

We get that you’re old and you love to tell us about how it was but the sad truth is the game has changed (especially how clubs are run) and however much most fans would love for Ole to succeed the idea that he could is mostly based on hope and little else and that can’t exist in today’s game, it’s far too big a romanticised gamble.

People on here moan (rightly) about other posters having blind faith in certain managers and players and going on about it, tbf your view on Ole is pretty similar.

Only if it considered the relevant points.

If Ole was doing a job similar to Lampard, nobody would be saying Ole out.

Also I haven't said Ole out, but it doesn't look good.

It's based on his buys, which have been good. Some games, though not enough, where we have played well. The fact that Jose, one of the world's best couldn't do better, that he's only had one window, that we are, gradually improving not regressing.

I don’t think our transfers have been great, especially when you consider that our squad is significantly weaker now than it was before the summer. Maguire, a world record fee hasn’t really improved our defence, AWB was a solid purchase and James is an average player who shouldn’t have be thrown in and depended upon if top 4 was ever our objective this season.

What performances this season have genuinely made you think we could succeed with Ole, Norwich and Brighton?

He’s had 2 transfer windows to be pedantic.

Jose failed, that doesn’t have any bearing on what Ole can do. He also won 2 trophies and finished 2nd, things I don’t see Ole doing any time soon.

Improving since when? We’re so inconsistent and only show improvements for a few weeks.

Like Techno I’m not even saying we should sack Ole, I’m just not convinced so far he’s showing signs that he can improve us, especially not to the levels the article suggest we should hope he can.

Jose did do better though

posted on 29/11/19

Only to begin with. When he got fired we were poor and getting worse.

posted on 29/11/19

Yeah so he did do better then?

posted on 29/11/19

Not compared to Ole when he took over.

posted on 29/11/19

So Ole is doing better than Jose based on last season, but this season Ole has less points than Jose did at the same time last season?

We need the best?
So we're going to get Pep or Klopp.
VVD, Messi, De Bruyne etc.
Because they're the best, simple as.
Get real.

posted on 29/11/19

Yes, we probably should look to players of the quality of VVD if they are available, instead of paying more for a player like Maguire.

And we should probably also look into getting in a top manager that’s attainable like Klopp was a few years back. If only there was a top quality manager out of a job now?

posted on 29/11/19

People like you would have had Fergie out of a job in 89

posted on 29/11/19

You're putting Poch on Pep/Klopp level?
And apart from DDG we need to buy ten players, as none of the outfield players are considered the best.

posted on 29/11/19

Even our best teams never had the best 11 in the league. No one does. It's ridiculous to think that would ever happen.

posted on 29/11/19

I’m saying Poch is one of the best managers in the world and available.

I haven’t said we need to buy 11 of the best players, but we should look to buy them if they are available, in a position we need and want to join us. You gave an example of VVD who left Southampton and was available to the bigger clubs including ourselves. Liverpool are a great example of the type of transfer policy we should look at, bringing in quality with great potential and improving them, something we have failed to do for nearly a decade.

I'm sticking with Ole... Hope the club do for a couple more years at least.

To everyone bleating about not winning the league, Liverpool haven't won it since before most of their supporters were born but 30 years later here they still are like a bad smell that won't go away. Football's cyclical.
