What a pile is shiiiit.

Though I do agree he won't go to arsenal, mainly as I don't think he will want to give up on the work he's done so far.

Great responses there guys. I look forward to debating at length with you both on the article in question, the robust responses and the intellectual back and forth as we chew the footballing fat like Henry Winter and Martin Samuel

5-0 today BTW.

Today is a weird game Florida. Especially given West Ham’s result yesterday, can be difficult when teams who are better than bottom 3 find themselves close to that situation. Hopefully we do the business

I agree with you BS. I don’t think Brendan will leave us just yet. However, I do think that we are a short term stepping stone for him in his career. Leicester were the perfect club for him to make his return to the Premier League. Our excellent structure, setup and squad gives him a great opportunity to achieve something tangible for his CV like a trophy or a top 4 finish. Upon achieving this I am certain that he would move on to one of the traditional top 6 clubs. If he took the Arsenal job now, It could potentially damage his reputation and make him look like a total mercenary. Basically saying I will come to your club, say all the right things, but the second a job comes up that I perceive to be more lucrative I’m off. In that scenario would clubs be as willing to take him if they feared he would be off in less than a year?
However, this is football of course so nothing would surprise me. I just hope it doesn’t affect us today. With Chelsea and Man City slipping up yesterday, it’s a great chance for us to capitalise.

I think the biggest reason why I believe he won’t go to Arsenal is that it’s simply not that attractive as a job right now. Their squad, strikers aside, is not very inspiring and needs a lot of work. There’s no great suggestion of a lot of funds being available. To me, Arsenal looks like the least attractive job in the Big 6 - from size of club to work required to squad quality.

Rodgers is ambitious, and I reckon he’ll want to be at one of the two Manchester clubs in 24 months’ time. The best way to get there will not be through an Arsenal position that looks tough and thankless.

Good points Ian and Dunge. Looking like a total mercenary so soon after his Celtic move wouldn’t help him right now, particularly given it’s barely 8 months and mid way through his first full season.

Additionally Arsenal are in a whole heap of trouble. As bad as Emery was, no one is going to be able to turn that situation around immediately. Best they will get is the new manager bounce for a few games, it needs a serious overhaul of recruitment and squad

Good article BS,really hope Rodgers stays, but one point would like to mention.i remember after Liverpool he took time off to recover from all pressure at Enfield.why go to a club in decline with demanding fans and owners when you can enjoy your time here with little pressure and wonderful owners and great fans where you achieve so much? Also would he be on more money there?
He could build even more than Claudio, never though would say that.

This is the best and most important point for me. If Rodgers leaves now he will look like an absolute mercenary. Now that’s fine if you go and succeed somewhere instantly - fans don’t argue with trophies.

But he’s not going to Liverpool or Man City, he’s going to Arsenal. A club in need of a total overhaul after Wenger’s era. Look at Utd. Look how hard it is to get it right after replacing a long term manager.

So, combine a slow start at a mess of a club and your reputation isn’t damaged, it’s destroyed. You’re on the scrap heap for good moving down the football pyramid until you disappear forever.

If Rodgers was going to leave, it would have been for Spurs. Still issues but a very good squad that should be in the top 4.

But really, the question I would ask is. If I were a real top top club wanting to challenge for top top honours, would I want Rodgers?

I applaud the fantastic job he is doing at Leicester, but for me that’s his level. I would be underwhelmed as a big club if my club went for him.

Rodgers and Leicester is the right fit right now. I don’t see that changing for 2 seasons unless Man Cury come calling.

Agree Mersey - I’m not yet convinced Rodgers has what it takes to succeed at the very highest level, consistently. There was something missing at Liverpool for me, perhaps tactically, and Klopp has taken them to levels that I don’t think Brendan ever could have.

That said, I think he would be a very good fit for the current Chelsea squad should they decide to move Frank on in the summer, but that would take a real fall from grace and a failure to achieve top 6.

Good BS i think he will leave for a top four team unless we can be that top four but not before the end of this season at least

Chelsea’s a possibility, but as you allude to the timing doesn’t look right.

Very well said Blacksy. I thought for a second that you may have stolen the input from some inquiring Sports journo’s weekly column as this is as direct and to the point as many could have written.

I think everyone here (LCFC wise) echoes my feelings and has paused for thought at some stage since the Spurs job became available. As for the Arsenal vacancy he must surely be considering whether to throw his hat into the ring as positions of this magnitude, like the one at Spurs, don’t come up very often. He must be thinking that he will rue a missed opportunity if he overlooks it now.

I don’t think he’ll be off soon either, but there must be a degree of personal torment going on his mind right now.
