Jose going forward

I think Jose will revert to type. I cannot see him tolerating our defending. He will go back to doing what he knows best.

unless we sort out our shoddy defence we will achieve nothing.

lack of concentration (potentially not fit enough) is a big problem, as is our defending of set pieces.

why is it so difficult for this team to keep a clean sheet.

DM is absolutely essential in January. i want him to have a chance to play himself into form, but he looks so shiiiit that i don't have too much hope. we need a Wanyama in his prime player - putting out fires all over the pitch.

sissoko has the attributes but hes too attack minded to be a DM

I am worried about the Man U game. All the pundits seem to be predicting a Spurs win.... Got a feeling this will rouse United and our players will be complacent and then go into panic mode when we concede

Year 1 Mourinho: Not enough time to sort out defence, hybrid team from previous manager that still scores a lot and concedes a lot.

Year 2 Mourinho: Still hybrid team from previous manager but the defence has been sorted out. Wins lots of games and keeps clean sheets. Success.

Year 3 Mourinho: Team is now too Mourinho. Too defensive. Boring. Starts trying to get players to commit suicide. Stabs media. Sets fire to self.

Utd game will be interesting.

We appear energised in attack so Utd will be very wary of this threat.

Last season Ole played their front 2 split, playing down the channels with their pacey strikers. Will he try the same again. With the amount of chances we created 2nd half we should have thumped them really that day. Plus with Jose's set up so far we've effectively been a back 3.

In that game Ole played a defensive team looking to counter attack swiftly. As the home team will he do that again or try to impose a more dominant style on us?

The return of Jose. Extra spice! Will he return to his Big Game Mode and defend or will he bluff or retaliate to the criticisms of his time there with an attacking set up that defies his usual mode.

Old Trafford isn't the place to try it but I'd give Foyth a try as a DM. Much more mobile than Dier, Can play a bit and is a decent athlete. Gives us the ability to drop in and make 3 CBs when the FB push forwards

A clear plan for Aurier not sure what that is but conceded to many goals behind him one on Saturday leaving the lumbering Sissoko to defend

Wednesday's match really feels big for us. The confidence and belief that a strong win and a clean sheet (if poss) would get for us, being 4 in a row, will set us up lovely for December and we can march on.

Players still have nervous hangovers / lack of belief. Once that belief returns I think we're going to go a fantastic run. Just don't want a blip so early on in the new era.

Our biggest problem defensively isn't actually Aurier (even though he's a headcase he is more than justifying his role in the team as his attacking play has been excellent). Our major problem is that Sanchez despite being a good athlete, has no positional understanding whatsoever...... Its his inability to read the game that causes Toby to get dragged around all over the place. Sadly we need his pace (esp Vs United). Jan & Toby will get killed Vs Rashford & Martial. Can see Sissoko getting a start ahead of Moura too as Aurier is gonna need help vs James

Weds could be one of those games where Jose's tactical nouse could really shine through. It might not be pretty & it might not be the most appealing/ first choice 11... but I would be V surprised if we don't come away with at least a point. Jose Vs OGS is a massive mismatch. We will sit deep and let Kane, Dele, Son play on the break

Can see us winning it 1-0

Would be shocked if Jose through Sess in at left back for this one.

Disagree with that quite strongly. Sanchez is getting better and better and made a great covering tackle behind Toby (reading the game) at the weekend.

This. Sanchez has definitely improved, his recovery speed is amazing and if we are going to play a high line with Toby at the back, he is pivotal.

Sanchez is a very good defender and actually one defender, most attacking players don't like to face

Right now, this is a new partnership (Toby/Sanchez) so they are still getting to know each other. Even when Toby/Verts play, one of them will get dragged around and the other has to cover. That's just the way it is. It's the ability of one to cover the hole left by the other which shows the nature of their understanding or how good it is, so there is nothing wrong if one leaves the hole to block an attack, as long we have a player covering him.

The reason we conceded in the last three games, is due to giving away silly fouls around the goal area or corners.
We also need to protect the keeper and the defense from balls whopped in from set pieces, inc corners that are near post. We need someone to go in and stop the ball getting that far into the area.

probably but hes so rarely available that its pointless to even think about him. we should probably fack him off in summer tbh... the wages he must have collected while injured must be extortionate

yeah absolute waste of space in the team and wages when we could have someone who is fit and ready to fight for the cause on a weekly basis

posted on 2/12/19

my sell list for january / summer would be (as long as we have someone to step up or replace them with)

- Eriksen
- Lloris
- Aurier
- Dier
- Lamela
- Wanyama
- Rose

Whilst I like Rose a lot still, I really feel his form is on getting worse

if we could, keep Toby & Jan for at least 1-2 more years so they could oversea any new younger centre backs coming in and give them a bit of mentoring, that would be spiffing
