Rolls Royce is Derby. Thousands of Rams fans have worked there over the years that the company has been associated with the City. It has always amazed me why they have never sponsored the club. They are a massive company and could easily bankroll us for years to come.
I just don't understand that one.
Toyota have sponsored a stand, surely they could be persuaded to cough up more. As far as I know we are the only club connected to Toyota in the country.
So two huge Multi-nationals on our doorstep and we have managed to squeeze next to nothing out of them.
What's the problem?
We are left going cap in hand to anyone with a quid or two.

Companies don't sponsor clubs out of the goodness of their heart. First and foremost shirt sponsors tend to be companies that provide high volume goods or services to the general public. Boeing and Airbus aren't going to buy engines on the basis of an advertisement on a shirt.

Toyota probably thought it a bit of good publicity to sponsor a stand at Pride Park and identify with the local community. I don't expect that they will sell more cars as a result of this.

Strangely enough we did once have Bombardier as shirt sponsors.

RR would sponsor Derby to improved worker well-being. A successful club means a happy worker, better productivity and on going commitment to the company.
RR could see it as giving something back.
It makes business sense in that respect.
Toyota have been shirt sponsor's to several clubs in Europe but now only sponsor Grampas 8.

A bit naïve there Rameses, you are imbuing corporate business with virtues they don't possess. How does it affect the bottom line is the first and last question when it comes to sponsorship. RR workers wouldn't be more productive if they sponsored Derby's shirt and they definitely wouldn't go out and buy an aero engine.

Perhaps, but it's small change to a company like RR to run DCFC. They wouldn't miss it in the same was that Etihad really don't make any money out of Man City.
Get Rolls Royce represented on the Derby board and we are away.

I think there is more chance of me sponsoring DCFC than RR.

It doesn't make any commercial sense Rameses.

I don’t think for one second that RR will get involved with Derby.
My point is that I hate these chancers like this hedge fund guy getting involved and would prefer to do it with local club connections.
The fact that we need the extra cash just to compete at all is what it killing football as I love it.
Spart is right it’s difficult to associate oneself with a club willing to sell out to this type of dodgy dealer.

Everyone knows the name RR but Etihad needs the publicity to become a household name and the owners and Etihad are connected.

Interesting that Livingston stadium is named after its sponsor, the Tony Macaroni stadium. Known to the locals as the spagghetihad.

No no Desi, credit where it’s due. Darley’s right to accept that he couldn’t be @rsed to read the whole thread. It was a great spot. You don’t need some Jonny-come-lately stealing your thunder.

I don’t really understand how we will have more to spend.
If the investors put in £800 Billion Billion Trillion Gazillion we will not be able to spend any of it as it hasn’t been generated by the club. It’s the whole point of FFP. To stop sugar daddies.
We can of course do a Forest, Leicester, Bournemouth, QPR, Sheff Wed, Birmingham, AstonVilla etc and extend a middle finger to FFP.
But as it stands, without breaking the rules we will not have any extra cash to splash.

Jonny come lately to the thread Darley. I know you’ve been around a while.
Perhaps the tone of my comments has been missed by you and Desi.
I was trying to be funny, clearly very unsuccessfully.
