Andy Ruiz Jr, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was his night. I didn’t prepare how I should have.
"I gained too much weight. I don’t want to give excuses, he won. He boxed me around. If we do a third fight you best believe I’m going to get in shape. I’ll be in the best shape of my life.
"I thought I was going to feel stronger. Next fight I’m going to get more prepared. I tried to train myself for this.
"I was chasing him too much. I was hesitating too much."
seriously how could he be under prepared for his 1st title defence

Nobody has hit harder than wilder in the history of the sport, fury is about as good a pure boxer as you can get at tbis weight and Joshua offers a range of attributes.
—————
Wilder is powerful but he fights like an ape. There’s nothing to say he hits harder than Shavers, Foreman, Tyson or Lewis or even Tua. He’s up there but to say he’s the hardest hitter ever is a big leap. He’s a frenetic finisher that’s for sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I like it to tentacle arms. He just throws from ridiculous angles and if you watch his feet they're not even planted half the time. He's an enigma I'll give you that, but he's a crap boxer.

I think the state of his opponent's would suggest he hits harder than anybody, ever. People don't move when he lands.
We all know he's a crap boxer, but fury beat him for 11 rounds and he still nearly put him away. How fury got up and won the rest of the round was astonishing.
Imho fury better boxer than AJ been saying it for ages and would beat him on points if he avoids the big hit.
Wilder nore powerful then AJ and would knock AJ out but I am nit sure if AJ especially at this new weight would have power to do likewise to wilder.

he landed some big shots on ruiz tonight
ruiz barely flinched
i know he has a good chin, but still
Wilder wouldn't be able to land on AJ if he fought how he did tonight.
Wilders slow, and struggled to land a shot on Ortiz.
Also, I think AJ had more power than wilder when at his strongest. The only bloke to knock down Ruiz in 30+ fights.
I think AJ would destroy Wilder with ease as that is a guy that literally can't box.
Fury the best 'boxer' at the moment but I'd still put money on AJ to beat him, by knock out.
Fury simply doesn't have the power to hurt AJ imo, so AJ would let his hands go and floor Fury.
Same with Wilder, he's got that one big hit but his defence is atrocious, if AJ is coming at him with a flurry then he'd probably KO him fairly easily

Sorry to disagree, but look at wilder. He's more like 15 stone and knocking people out. Why do you think he'll lose his punching power by shedding bulk? Hell be much quicker for it, he'll lose a little power but I don't think it will be as extreme as you think.

Very professional show from AJ. He’s always been too muscular and too much of a one-punch merchant since becoming champ, which isn’t poor from a Olympic gold medallist.
Said it a million times, there is no need for a HW boxer to have a physique like a body builder; Ali, Holmes, Lewis, the greatest HWs of all time IMO - they didn’t need it. All that muscle requires too much oxygen to keep it motoring, which is why sprinters are built like brick sheite houses and long distance runners are like vegetarians toothpicks. It’s why the likes of Haye and Bruno had no stamina.
Joshua needs to keep this approach and be less of a one trick pony, not be the type of fighter that can get KOd by an Andy Ruiz. He boxed cleverly tonight but let’s be honest was an embarrassment - 6’2” and coming in at 20st is a disgrace. He was just an overweight plodder following AJ around eating jabs. Not nearly worthy of owning the belts he brought to the ring.
This was the right result for boxing in terms of what could happen over the next 18 months with AJ, Wilder, Fury, but I won’t be holding my breath on any of those fights getting made. AJ Fury at Wembley would be huge in Britain but the promotional logistics are a nightmare. MayPac all over again, will probably happen when they are both hasbeens.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed with all of this apart from Hate not having stamina, why do you believe that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Haye could box in a controlled fight for 12 rounds decently enough; like vs Wlad or Valuev. If a fight became frenetic Haye wasn’t as good. He was a good finisher if he got an opponent in trouble, but he was a fighter who expended very little energy in his fights - which was intentional. He had a sprinters physique and relied mostly on explosiveness, like a sprinter. When you talk about stamina you also have to factor in injuries too; Haye was very prone to soft tissue injuries, probably as a result of his body type, which massively hindered his career. I don’t regard Haye as a great 12 round fighter, unless it was a slow 12 rounds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmm, the wlad fight he got wrong and if he'd had another go I reckon he would've pasted him. As for valuev, only person to nearly TKO him. No one else rocked that boy.

Tbh wilder is almost 7 foot.
At that height you can generate a bit more power as you got more swing
A prime Haye vs Aj would be a decent fight, my money would be on Haye

⬆️Just to add to that Haye would never have ‘pasted’ Wlad. Wlad was a far superior technical boxer, equally as strong and much bigger. Wlad would beat Haye 9 times out of 10 fairly comfortably, just like he did on the night. Wlad stands head & shouders above Haye in the history of HW boxing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We'll never know, but well said on the comment above. I suppose in retrospect the bulk did cause him more injuries and that showed in the Bellew fights, I still think prime for Haye is far more dangerous than say wilder. I still think he could've beaten Wlad if he had a second go.
