Who next for Rodgers to turn down?

He's a decent manager but wouldn't want him anywhere near United. There are others who we would go for anyway. He is at the perfect club I think

I don’t think we’ll be interested in Rodgers. Allegri or Pochettino seems like the best bet for us.

Rodgers will hang around for a while at Leicester I reckon. I could see him at one of the London clubs in a couple of years, however. He’d be a good replacement for Mourinho or Lampard.

I don't think you will either to be honest but you can pretty much guarantee the media will link him. Don't think he'd consider Spurs but Chelsea perhaps, though I don't think that will happen for a season or two because Lampard will be given a proper chance.

If Pep leaves City I don't think they will consider him either and obviously he won't be going back to Liverpool.

I agree, I think we suit him and United need a bigger name.

I think he’d go to Spurs in a couple of years to pick up the pieces after Mourinho has his meltdown. But yeah Chelsea is most likely in couple of years. Arsenal I’m not sure, they’re a mess right now. But I wouldn’t write off Rodgers’ ego. He probably thinks he could take them back to the top, despite them being so far away.

The level of delusion in the OP is staggering. If arsenal or man utd want rodgers they will get him.

If he is saying that he is staying at Leicester, its because he has heard that arsenal aren't interested.

He had no problen with celtic playing in a pub league or he wouldn't have gone there in the first place.

He won’t jump ship to Arsenal mid season. If he were to go there it’d be in the summer, but even then I’m not convinced. Leicester aren’t as big a club as Arsenal but right now they’ve got something in place that gives them more potential as a club in the short term. So you could understand why he’d choose to stay at Leicester. We won’t go for him so doesn’t really matter.

Why would he leave in the summer when he's qualified us for the CL? Arsenal will be in the EL and need huge investment to sort themselves out (a new defence and midfield) and they're not likely to be sorting that mess out for several windows.

As daft as it sounds because it really shouldn't be the case but he's got far more chance of winning something at Leicester than any of the other clubs at the moment because we have a much better team than the others at the moment.

That’s basically what I said in my post.

Leicester are a better team than us right now.

Would love for us to poach him though and bring Maddison, Ndidi & Soyuncu (spelling?) with him. No chance though.

How long has he been at Leicester now. Maybe In a few years time unless he starts collecting trophies he may see a move as a way to continue growing his profile. Doing a good job gets you mentioned for other jobs, got to credit him/Leicester for that

Think Poch is a better manager so no point trying Rodgers first when Poch is available.

Poch has never won anything and never come close to winning the PL either. It's not Rodgers fault Liverpool didn't win it, that's on the players and them alone.

Those three would definitely improve you but you could do with Evans, Ricardo and Chilwell too then you'd be a good side.

So it was just the players that did it at Celtic then, not rodgers, on them alone.

They were 3-0 up at Palace and threw it away and Gerrard fell over, how can Rodgers be blamed for that?

The Man Utd job is the one that worries me. Arsenal doesn’t look like an attractive job right now, plus Man Utd always have millions upon millions available to spend. They’re a true giant, ready to get behind the right manager.

Whether Man U would go for him, I don’t know. Ed Woodward’s judgement is not renowned as being predictable.

Honestly from your first 11 I'd be happy to have all of them in the squad, but the 3 I listed would just be the ones I think would make the biggest difference.

When Brendan Rodgers joined Leicester there were many Celtic fans who warned he’d be off at the first opportunity. I was mentally prepared then and still am now, that his tenure here might be short if we perform well. My main hope was that he’d stay long enough to improve us and make us more stable.

I think a lot of the ‘big club’ arguments end up like a manhood measuring contest. It’s not an argument I’m interested in having. Arsenal have been, historically, a much bigger club than Leicester. Of that there is no debate.

Timing, however, is everything. If Rodgers performs here for 2-3 seasons he may well have his pick of big club options. Arsenal are currently in a state of rebuilding following a dynasty in a similar way to Man Utd. It’s a tough job that can easily ruin his carefully built reputation. His current job also gives him an outside possibility of winning trophies without the pressure of having to.

The counter argument is one that suggests he should cash in whilst his star is high. He might not get another opportunity. Again in the case of Arsenal the gap to what he could achieve there as opposed to what he could do at Leicester is not a big as it was - at least in the short term. It’s a dangerous jump especially when there may be safer options on the horizon.

Considering when he left Celtic and his obvious ambition I think we’d be naive to think it couldn’t happen at Leicester, but I actually believe it’s not all about the manager. We’ve been building something here with these owners for a while now and there is a great deal of infrastructure in place. Despite being a smaller club we are better run than many of the traditional top six. We’ve continued to thrive despite the loss of many managers including the most successful ones (Pearson, Ranieri). Football isn’t all about the manager anymore like it was in the days of: Clough, Paisley, Ferguson or Wenger. Backroom interferences can starve the development of a club. Rodger’s feels like the latest player in a story that started before he’d arrived and will finish long after he’s gone.

Yeah that would worry me too if I thought they'd go for him but I think they'd go for a bigger name. They made a huge mistake with Ole and I don't think they'd be looking to make the same mistake again. A massive club with huge funds available unlike Arsenal and Spurs would certainly be more attractive.

Good post.

I think the time will come when he moves on but we will be in a good position when he does and attracting another top manager shouldn't be too difficult for all the reasons you mentioned.
