Apparently the EU were closing the loopholes for corporations to base themselves offshore to avoid paying their due tax.

Yes and no. There's the EU tax avoidance directive coming into force in 2020 but it's provisions have been widely misrepresented.

People will believe what they want to believe. You can look at the facts if you like - a decade of Tory government has been bad for the economy (austerity was a political ideology, not a necessity, and one that economists have been almost universal in condemning), bad for the NHS, bad for education, and bad for the ordinary working person. The "radical" manifesto that Labour are standing on now would be seen as a moderate, centre-left, social democratic manifesto in most other European countries. But facts come from experts, and like Gove said - this country has had enough of experts. You just need to look at Farage peddling the same discredited myths about immigrants putting pressure on the health service to see how willfully ignorant people can be of the truth when it doesn't suit their instinctive opinions. In short, we're fvcked, because we deserve to be fvcked, because we're going to vote in a government we know is going to fvck us.

All that said, I will, of course, be voting SNP

Scottish Labour have fvcked themselves by trying to out-Tory the Tories.
