VC, I don’t particularly want to continue arguing with you. However:

“My youngest son spotted it first, then it was Spart, then it was my oldest son and now me and about 20,000 others have come to the conclusion that Coco is effing useless and hasn't a clue how to manage our club.”

How is that NOT claiming to speak for 20,000?

The point I was making was the majority of fans I've spoken to are disillusioned with the Rams and feel the manager is not doing the job well.

I heard the manager's interview on RD and I heard him say he didn't bring on our best forwards bacause we were playing well at the time. Not well enough to have any shots on goal of course. Marriott should have been on earlier and he should have let QPR worry about us instead of worrying the players by changing tactics.

I hope we win both games this week and you can give me some stick. I hope I enjoy the games also, I like to get excited.

Up The Rams.

I’m doing my best not to get into any politicking on this site, it tends to get people falling out.

I do enjoy a little spat with Vidal though!

I have to travel a bit to get to games VC, so I get very fed up when it’s not very good. But as with most things in life I try to look for the good rather than the bad. In my job it’s easy to get negative the way the NHS is at the moment. With our manager maybe you’re right when you say that it’s just hope getting in the way of realism but we’ll see. Two years ago Norwich lost seven out of ten matches at this stage of the season and there were plenty of Canaries chirping their discontent. Delia held her nerve and they finished fourteenth. We know what happened last season after the manager had had a couple of transfer windows to change things and to bring through some youth.

Managers don’t often get more time so it’s hard to know how often something like that might happen if owners were more patient. I thought and still think Solskjær is way out of his depth at Man U but maybe that will turn out differently if they stick with him. Their situation has some similarities to ours with a squad of players bought by a series of managers who don’t seem able to play together. Sometimes clubs need a re-boot which takes more time than fans generally think should be necessary.

Anyway, always good to have different slants on it all.

The frequency with which managers get changed is out of phase with the transfer window frequency - with many owners. We need to give Cocu at least 3 windows to see what he is made of as a manager. The first window, he knows not what he has. The second gives him a chance to strengthen and get rid of dead wood. (not easy sometimes). And the third, to finesse his team and philosophy.

BC's first season was not great and he had no 'windows' to contend with. But my word his second season was something to savour.

I think PC needs two seasons in charge at Derby.

You can give him two seasons Ramdini but I would bet you that next season we would be just as bad if not worse with him in charge. I can't see any improvement in the team so far, not even a straw to grasp at. Nothing like BCs first season.

Cocu has a transfer window and an experienced quality player to help him in the second half of the season. If he can't improve the team in the second half of the season he should be gone.

Why does everyone keep comparing everyone to BC. That was 50 years ago and time have changed (not always for the better, but that's another argument).

Lets also not forget that Sir Brian was not averse to spending a few quid.

It is the same argument for Ferguson at Man Utd. Don't get rid of a manager too soon as they could come good.

It is also the same refutation of that argument that both managers showed signs of things changing for the better even when they weren't getting the results.

With managers like Pearson and Clement there wasn't any sign of improvement, in fact quite the reverse. I find the same with Cocu but will give him another half season to prove me wrong. Will Mel though?

I gave the example of Farke. Naturally there will be those Norwich fans who will now claim that they could see all along that he was on the right track in his first full season, but they will be kidding themselves. There was a lot of discontent and doubt that he knew what he was doing, especially when they had one win and seven defeats in ten games. We beat them at Carrow Road on that run and they looked anything but a team that was heading in the right direction. At the time he said:

“I know the fans have been moaning at times. That is quite normal when you are on a tough run. You feel more pressure as a head coach than a player. I am responsible for these lads. I feel so much support and trust from the club.

When you work in professional football you know there isn’t any club that can give you assurances, about how long you will stay. But I know here there is a lot of trust and even in the bad periods that trust is still there. I feel a deep support and that gives me a lot of confidence.

It is important to deal with the expectations of such a massive club. Four times in the last six seasons we were in the Premier League but you have to be responsible for a big change."

Scouse. To remember BC's first season of mediocracy is not comparing anybody with anybody. It is just that if any of the current lot of Cocu decriers had been in charge at that time they would have got rid of him. There would have been all sorts of negative comments from fans bemoaning his poor results. In the event, I don't know if Sam Longson had recognised BC's inate ability, or whether he just didn't fancy his pay-off. Whatever. his second season was much better. I and others are hoping Cocu will find his own form of success soon, as he did at his former club.

Ramdini, I remember BC's first season well and fans weren't moaning because he was a breath of fresh air in a previously moribund club. He got us excited and improved players and got us to the League Cup semi finals where we put up a good display against filthy Leeds.

It was also the "Summer of Lurve" so we were all cool and happy.

When you say the next season was much better you should say it was bloody unbelievably fantastic. We were in wonderworld and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. My favourite season ever 68/69.

posted on 10/12/19

My first season. I had no yardstick to measure it by so I assumed that what I was seeing was the normal way of things.

Oh by the way Vidal, don't get too upset about all this negativity about the NHS, I know it can't be nice when you seem to get criticised all the while in the press. Mrs VC had spent many months this year in the Royal Derby and has had wonderful care from the staff. It is greatly appreciated by my family and I. Thank you.

Vidal, You do magnificently in an impossible task with resources lagging far beyond demand - deliberately by this bad and likely to get much worse government very soon.

The NHS and the BBC are the two most important benefits of living in GB. Both Institutions are being destroyed slowly and as craftily as possible. In extreme embarrassment over stealing the reporter's phone (with the picture) Boris threatened the BBC with losing its license fee, having already placed on them the burden of old folks free TV licence. Don't know why? Considered by a few as being too good for the common classes I imagine.

I notice the Tories have kept Rees-Mogg quiet, wasn't his old fellas something to do with the BBC?

De Pfeffel hides away from journalists in a refrigerator. Also hid away from an interview with Andrew Neil. What a coward, like his idiot friend across the pond captain Bonespur. Both are so similar. Serial liars, misogynists, great sense of their own entitlement, deluded about their ability, fat, stupid hair and cowardly. They could be clones.

Not only that, basically he hid way from Andrew Neil, who was his former boss and drinking buddy, who had already primed him with the questions he was going to ask
