pc gone mad what next ban fouling
It was a tactical foul which is something Pep has never told the City players to do despite Arteta telling the City players to do it in the Amazon documentary.
To be fair it was a cynical challenge and he should have been a bit more discrete about it. It was a yellow by letter of the law but something like that should be considered as a red in my opinion.

It was similar to the Chowdhury one on Salah which injured him. By the rule book it is a yellow but you can see why somebody may think a red would be better suited.
There's tactical fouls where he nudge or shove someone to stop them progressing and then there is the hack Perreria did which was violent and a red. I'm glad it wasn't a red because you boys did us a favour
Probably deemed a trip rather than anything else.
Think we're getting into dodgy territory to call that violent conduct.
Violent conduct
It was a deliberate trip, no different to a deliberate push or pull, to stop a counter attack. No more, no less.
It was also quite amusing.

Was similar to the challenge that Son did on Gomez, where he was wrongly sent off. Son had no intention of playing the ball but wasn't a reckless challenge.
If we start sending off players for challenges, even tactical fouls, the game would be ruined
I wouldn't call it violent conduct, but he certainly hacked the opponent down.

There's just something funny about how blatant it is.
Not funny for the team affected but other than that, I always find those incidents amusing.
Please respect Fernandinho. Yes, he does it but in a very cute and clever way.

Yeah...I hate it myself but you can be damn sure I'll be screaming for a Liverpool player to commit the foul and take the yellow.
I do think it is happening more now than ever however. Perhaps they could look at it and change the law to allow a yellow for players who attempt to play the ball and a red for those who don't. I wouldn't like to be the one having to judge this however. When your team are in the receiving end it does feel like the opposition have been rewarded by only receiving a yellow. Conversely you'd feel a red was harsh.
This was the best thing Pereira has done in a while.
It was brilliant, I loved it. He’d just come on and got straight into them
You can see why people would want more than a yellow but you can’t go giving reds for that.
I think a deliberate tactical foul when the opposition are on the break deserves a 5-10min sin bin (orange card). Somewhere in between yellow and red!
I’ll never forget this one from Ole, brilliant

(sound quality is horrible)
Being too aggressive in the press is a tactical foul too though that doesn't get any additional punishment currently, it would be a minefield assessing intent in all of those.

Yeah it’s always the one I think of when thinking of someone taking one for the team 😂
Also agree it should, and all fouls of a similar ilk, should be a red card. It's not violent conduct, but making no attempt to play the ball and deliberately tripping an opponent falls right into the Serious Foul Play category.
It's become widely acceptable if someone "takes one for the team", but that's bollox. It's reckless and could easily cause injury to a player and therefore the punishment should fit the crime.
Under the current rules the yellow was correct, but it's something the powers that be should reconsider the punishment for.
“deliberately tripping an opponent falls right into the Serious Foul Play category.”
Well that’s just not true, is it?

Well there's no attempt to play the ball is there? You kick someone off the ball you'll get a red, but kicking someone deliberately without any attempt to even get the ball only warrants a yellow? That doesn't seem right to me.

Well serious foul play involves challenging for the ball, so I think we can rule that out.
You then need to ask yourself if this is violent conduct.
I personally don’t see it as that.

"A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play."
How does deliberately tripping an opponent running at full speed NOT endanger their safety? All tackles carry an element of risk, but there's a massive difference between arriving at the ball late and committing a foul, and just legging someone up because you've no chance of winning the ball. I fail to see how it isn't serious foul play.
