Our Nuclear deterrent has meant that it is just assassinations on our soil and not worse. The one thing that keeps the world at bay is the knowledge that we can launch a nuclear strike if we need to - it’s the only thing that makes us relevant among the super powers these days.
You only have to dive back to the Yulta conference at the end of WW2 to see what effect nuclear capability has. It was the only thing that stopped Stalin from taking greater control.

To be honest it’s shocking it’s come to this. Corbyn is completely unelectable, far too left wing.
Johnson is a faaarcking lying cheating fat blonde tiiit, who couldn’t answer a question straight to save his life.
Corbyn will take away our nuclear deterrent at a time when terrorism is on the rise and the Russians seem to be able to infiltrate the country whenever they want - Skripal and Litvenko for example. Take that away Jeremy and we have little form of defence.
Johnson on the other hand wants to deliver a style of Brexit that not even the leave voters voted for. He will sell off the NHS and the poor in this country will suffer terribly. The big thing with him is that it is too easy to tell that he doesn’t give a shiiiiit about anyone but himself - most politicians are capable of hiding this.
