For Those Who Could not Attend

Fossie was prominent but his distribution was not brilliant.
_______________________

Thats a bit of an understatement, a more accurate description of his distribution would be awful!

Derby weren't good 2nd half, they did show more energy but it was far from good and Sheff Wed were as bad as they were good 1st half

Have to disagree about Whitaker and Knight. Whitaker never got in the game and Knight just about scraped average
Not really blaming them, they're just not ready, Whitaker more so

Lets not pretend Derby played well 2nd half, it was an improvement on the 1st half but it would have been extremely difficult for it not to be, they still didn't create a good chance against a poor team

Anyone notice from the kick off, Wednesday set off to attack Bogle using two players. Preston also did this so I am wondering if the conventional wisdom (no pun intended) amongst Championship coaches is that Bogle is not strong defensively.

I thought Fozzie's pass looked OK for their goal and it was Davies who didn't react to it that was the problem. I thought he could have reached the ball before Bannon.

Hi Spart, thanks for your views. I never like to be too negative and try to find the bright spots. If I didn't do that I might find myself missing out on some of these December night games. I agree Davies was not very good last night but from where I was sitting the pass looked just as bad as Bogle's at the Schitty ground. If you were nearer I would take your word for it.

Forsyth was at fault I suggest you watch it again

Fozzy's error for sure, but the other two didnt cover themselves in glory by shying away from the ball

It was ridiculously sloppy. Davies seemed to be moving backwards for no clear reason but Forsyth was far too casual. You've got to be precise with passing rather than just casually pass it across.

I actually thought Knight did really well in the first half especially. He gives us energy in there. I hope Bielik comes back and then I would try the diamond with him and Holmes behind Lawrence on Saturday. I also thought Martin put in a very good shift.

Thanks for your usual excellent report Ramdini.

The first half was the worst you could watch, we made an ordinary team look like world beaters. The second half was an improvement as everyone has said. I thought that Martin was our best player, he won nearly every ball and passed it to someone in a white shirt. He looked interested and fired up and put him penalty away well, I am always a bit worried when Chris takes a penalty.

I thought Evans did OK, he put over a nice cross late in the game: we don't see many crosses these days do we?

Two games on the trot where marriott comes on and improves things, why the hell doesn't the manager pick him instead of that total disgrace and waste of space number 10?

Looking forward to giving GR a good reception on Saturday.

Please Cocu for the love of God bring the diamond formation back for the Millwall match. We know how Millwall usually set up for away games and with Rowett in charge too it'll be a cautious defensive line up. I'd get Martian and Marriott up front with Lawrence behind.

Additionally should Marriott not be selected my thinking is Cocu might use him to generate some funds for the January transfer window.

Millwall (H)
Reading (A)
Wigan (A)
Charlton(H)
Barnsley (H)

He's got five matches to survive before the window opens - if the matches turn out to be like what I've read about our performance last night I'm not sure how he'll survive post Jan. Need to be looking at 10 points minimum from these matches

@Ramdini thanks for the report.

I saw it again Bush, shows how misleading an angle could be. The pass was meant for Davies but too far forward. From where I was sitting Davies appeared to move backwards. Forsyth definitely at fault. Forsyth did the same in the second half as well but we weren't punished the second time.

When he played wing back Forsyth used to waste so many passes overhitting them so the ball went out of play. Thought him playing in the middle of defence he would be safer.

Urgent need for decent central defenders. Preferably one's who do up their safety belt when in a car.

What pub do you visit before the game VC10?

Where is Griff these days - anyone know?

It amazes me that posters say certain players had a good game or such and such did well last night

It seems to me that expectations of player performances have dropped that low now that even a bang average performance seems to be lauded

Id give Martin 6/10 last night everyone else 5/10 or less with plenty of 4's and even a 3

Cocu has to select from the talent we have. We the fans need to compare performances and praise relatively good play to encourage our better players. It would be easy to criticise any performance for not being as good as the top Premier clubs but utterly pointless. He has the players bequested to him. His job (until any transfer window) is to select and encourage his best team.

That wasnt the point I was making though

I could see someone on the park have a good game in relation to the standard he is playing in

Someone mentioned above Evans played well whilst I would rate his performance as 4/10 and personally I think he'll have to play at a lower level after Derby release him, same goes with other current Derby players

I cannot bring myself to say players played well just because they ran round a bit more and some of their passes actually went to another white shirt

I'm a Martin fan and I am glad that the manager has brought him back into the team. He is the best person we've got to play the centre forward role and I wish he had Marriott with him.

I'd give Martin an 8, several others 6s and Tommy a 2.

Yes it is very poor and the standards have dropped dreadfully. I hope one day things improve.

Spart, we go to the Horseshoes at Long lane before the game. I live near to this pub and my sons pick me up as I've told them I can't see very well. (I can really but I want a few pints!)

Do pop in, we have some good discussions about many interesting topics, especially recently. You'll soon spot me, I'm the one at the bar with the loud voice!

Well that would explain your footballing views, VC, but not your political ones

VC10 I can't attend out there in the sticks as I will be on the train on Saturday.

If I remember rightly, when I was seventeen I used to cycle out to the Horseshoes for a pint or two. They would serve you if you looked approximately old enough. I went from Findern to Mickleover to collect some mates and off we went. Once I rode straight into a tree on the way back. I saw it coming at me from a mile off but I was unable to get out of its path.

If it used to be called the 3 Horseshoes, it was part of our crawl on a Friday night, when I first started to drive. Had several floundering dates there, if I remember correctly.
Just had a look at the website & didnt recognise it at all. Certainly wasnt a gastropub in those days

Yes it used to be called The Three Horseshoes and us old locals still call it that. It had got rather run down and the owner wanted to turn it into a house. We fought against this and it got taken over by Berkeley Inns who have done a terrific job turning it into a good pub for drinking or a good meal. Mel goes there for his Christmas dinner, but he scoots through the bar so we can’t give him any advice!

Thinking about the pub has given me a thirst, so I think I’ll go for pint before the big push tonight.

Ang, you forgot to put the bit in brackets. More fake news!

I knew someone would do that when I typed it.

Mel scoots through the bar? My dogs used to scoot and the vision of Mel dragging his bum across the carpet is one I can't seem to shake.
