It'll be interesting to see if Nuno goes with 3-5-2 or sticks to 3-4-3. I expect to see Ruddy in goal and a back three of Bennett, Coady and Kilman. I don't see Traore starting, so we could have a 5 man midfield and I'd include Dendonker and Neves. Vinagre will more than likely start on the left, but it'll be interesting to see who's on the right. Cutrone and Neto up front and a youngster or two to fill the rest.

Well, 9 out of 11 wasn't bad. Can someone tell Lonesome Wolf that Nuno DID in fact call me, but decided to only play one youngster.

Basaksehir scored very late at Moenchengladbach to eliminate them

Some big names amongst the seeded teams, but some very beatable sides too

Malmo
Linz
Basaksehir
Gent

One of those four preferably in the next round

posted on 12/12/19

Can we have one of them in the round of 32, another in the round of 16, another in the quarter finals and the final one to make it easy for us to get to the final

posted on 12/12/19

Benfica
Inter
Ajax
Sevilla

The strongest four we could get i guess

Terrible first half but most enjoyable second half particularly from the moment Jota came on. Great to see him back at his best, you could tell by the way he was warming up he was back in the groove. Always said he was just one goal away from being at his best but didn’t expect 5 goals in a game and a half.

Neves, Buur and Moutinho the only bright spots in the first half with Dendoncker and Neto really poor in that half. But they both improved no end after the break. Cutrone worked his socks off as usual and deserved a goal. Impressive cameos from both Otasowie and Perry.

Just a shame Braga won

Yeah real game of two halves that, good to see us put a game to bed at last. Thought Oskar Buurr had a pretty good game as did Neto eventually. An absolutely devastating burst from Jota and on came the kids to see out the game, great experience for them.

Further reflections on some of the fringe players performances last night:

Vinagre - there's the makings of a top draw player there, but he needs harnessing somehow, comparisons with Ronaldo are obvious but he's not in the same class (even if he thinks he is) and needs to start producing more, he should be a really dangerous player but rarely is. Not sure he's improved an awful lot in the last two years.

Kilman - made an error early on but switched on after that and had a steady game, unlucky not to grab a goal during the crazy period when we had them on the rack.

Neto - A bit frustrating in the first half, but came alive when Jota came on and we switched to a front three. Nice assist for the first, beat his man more than once and good delivery.

Cutrone - Ditto, looked a bit lost playing in a front two but transformed in the front three, was desperate to get a goal after working hard for others, lovely sexy touch to send Neto away for the first.

Rasmussen - Really impressed with him, first time I'd seen him really apart from a few minutes against Hull a couple of years back. Didnt have much to do defensively, but got forward well and quickly. Looks like he could be an able deputy for Doherty if required.

Ruddy - nowt to do really, had a save to make early on and pulled his arms away from several wayward shots.

I think Vinagre has become more disciplined defensively but although he makes some dazzling runs forward there is rarely a good end product. But we were saying the same about Traore and he has learned so Vinagre could become very good.

I do rate Kilman but the defence had a pretty easy game last night so not much to judge any of them on really.

I thought Neto had a really poor first half but in the last half an hour was one of our best players. There’s certainly potential there.

Cutrone will always be popular as a player that gives 100% and there’s certainly the potential for him to be a good centre forward, although his all round game falls well short of Jimenez’s.

Buur had possibly his best game so far. Looks like a 12 year old in build and could do with bulking up but he is not afraid of a tackle and did well going forward last night.

I’m sure Ruddy won’t be here next season, if we bought a new keeper in, maybe he would even go in Jan. I think he is ok but no better than that. Norris has been getting good reviews at Ipswich, be good to see him get a chance.

I thought Otasowie and Perry both looked good in their short spells last night. Otasowie hit the bar with his first touch and both looked comfortable and good prospects.
