I think there is a personal 'tipping point' that most of the Faithful adhere to. I feel that it's being reached and passed by even the most mild mannered, cerebral thinkers amongst us.

I like Vidal's team and his get rid list.

Wouldn't it be nice to get rid of that little mardass?

Left back cover is Buchanan or Shinnie when either or both are fit. Wisdom has also played there.

After Boozegate I thought the plan would be to sell Lawrence when possible. Even when I have defended him I have always said I would be content to sell him as he is inconsistent. His best position is likely to be where Rooney will play. As a wide player he is not a good wide player.

Prevalent view on the wires is that we were 'unlucky' - even though we lost - we played very well and did alright

When Shinnie is fit then Knight and Sibley can compete for the other spot, Knight being ahead at the moment. Sibley can gradually get game time in the second half of the season. With Rooney in there and either Bielik or Huddlestone at the base I see that being a potentially very good midfield. Centre half is a massive problem but from what I have seen if Dickie he could be our talisman for many years if we are brave enough to pay what it takes now. I remember when Nigel Clough was interested in Harry Maguire as a young player but the price of about 4 million was too much.

With Rooney and Martin we have two very clever players. If Marriott can’t be rehabilitated then get a speedy forward on loan, Nketiah if he’s had enough at Leeds. Get a tricky wide player as a sub option. We ain’t all that far away from a good team. Keep the faith.

We are specialists at buying players that can not be sold on. I can't see anyone wanting TL at present given his character and frame of mind. We'd be lucky to sell Waghorn, but given he's our top goalscorer and we can't score that would be strange move imho.

We've been linked with Fox ( left back ) at Wednesday which I can't see happening unless we sell Malone or Lowe.

Have we been linked with Dickie ???

Yes

I'm okay with that link. A GK???

There was a rumour that we had asked about both Hart and Begovic but the DET said that goalkeeper was not considered to be “a priority” at the moment. It should be though.

I don't know what he said as I always drop off to sleep when he is interviewed. Sorry I can't help.

The positivity is to be admired, nay revered Vidal. We need it by the ton load at the moment.

I have just looked at the Forest boards for their game v Huddersfield. It seems they were a pretty violent, clogging Buch, like they were when we played them. We have suffered and are still suffering from the effects of their clogging style. Clarke is still absent and we have missed him. Same old, same old Red Dogs.

It softened the blow when Notts Forest and Leeds lost and Burton won, but they beat one of my favourite teams little old Rochdale.

I wonder who will last the longest, Forest's manager (I don't know his name) or our manager? Interesting times.

By the way Ramdini, thank you for your kind comments on a previous thread, I've only just found it. I hope we can meet up one day for a chat, I'm sure we will have plenty to talk about!!!

I think it would be a good idea when a new post comes in, the thread goes to the top.

Although I'm fed up with our manager I hope he comes good and proves me wrong. We have had far too many changes and need stability. Trouble is I can't see him turning the ship round. Hope I'm wrong.

I get that VC10 n I admit this is torture at the moment.

The injuries for me are the biggest concern though, Cocu has rarely had our best players available, Keogh included. Had he not been a div, Huddz stayed fit, Clarke not been assaulted, JM been properly fit, Shinnie not got crocked n Bielik not had his niggles along the way. I don't think it'd have clicked but think we'd be in a far better position.

I have come to the conclusion that Cocu hasn't a clue what to do now. Even when Nigel Clough's team of bargain basement journeymen were at their weakest we managed to score a few goals and have a few clean sheets. I would say even in this team's depleted state, there is more ability than NC had for the bulk of his time at PP. So why can't Cocu find a way of attacking to score and defending to prevent the opposition scoring.

It's all very well some saying we didn't play that bad because the record book will say otherwise. Were I in Mel's position I would give him 10 more games but I think Mel will have a lower number than that before he pulls the trigger. Here's hoping for a turnaround but I feel it's a wait in vain.

Spart, I’ve just looked at Nigel Clough’s first full season in charge, 2009/10. He had also had half of the previous season. At this stage of the 2009/10 season we had just lost 2-0 at home to Doncaster and we had scored 9 goals in the dozen games leading up to it. We were 18th in the table. Clough had inherited players like Hulse, Commons and Green and we had Bywater in goal and Barker and Leacock at centre half.

We got battered 6-1 at Cardiff and I clearly remember the 4-1 home drubbing by Scunthorpe just after New Year when I was very low and the vast majority of fans on the old 606 were incandescent and demanding Clough’s head. It was hard to argue for a stay of execution, though I did. Form improved, the one-nil home win against Forest when Hulse headed in Commons’ cross was crucial and we just avoided relegation.
