Luck is also created. Players are more prone to error if they are constantly bombarded with attacks. Spurs have had lucky goals scored but our problem is we don't capitalise and give away more stupid goals in return.

I don’t think comparing points totals is helpful.

The league has changed and I think the gap has widened - I think the points totals reflect that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But that's subjective because i could spin that statement and say the gap as widened because Liverpool and Man City and two of the best teams in Premier League history.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Points wise it can't be argued with, how a team is actually judged beyond their points tally is hard to fathom..
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But I think we’ve seen an ever widening gap into three mini leagues, so I think the points rallies for the bigger clubs were always bound to increase.

Can’t back that up mind! Would be interesting to look at.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Positions in the league now you can pretty well call before a ball is kicked. When I first starting watching football, you really did not know who woud win the title. I think their was something like a dozen different title winners in my first 15 or so seasons of watching Spurs play. It was very much more competive back in the day. Basically football since the late 1970s pretty much through to now has been absolutely dominated by just a few clubs. Moreso now since the Prem came into being.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That is fair comment when your predictions vary as wildly as yours do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

My predictions are pretty good mate. I predicted our manager would get the sack, I also stand very high in both predictascore leagues I am in on this site. So my predictions are better than most.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have also predicted that the league title last year was between Spurs and City with Liverpool falling away, Liverpool would not compete this year because of VAR or their luck wouldn't hold out, Potch was the best manager ever and that he was the worst manager so what ever actually happens you have it covered.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I forgot to factor in for the amount of luck Liverpool have had in 2019.

Just shows what incredible mental strength we have.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Henderson or Albrighton dropping clangers in games to help you win has nothing to do with your mental strength.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So that's just a couple of moments of fortune, halfway through the season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's fortune none the less. Doesn't mean that you aren't the best team in the country but really you shouldn't be as far ahead of everyone as you are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure there are other big teams that have had a couple of moments of fortune as well. Let's not forget our moment of misfortune against United as well which may be partially why we're not even further ahead than we are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its a weird argument. Have Liverpool been any luckier than any other team?

The perception will be that Liverpool are the luckiest team but in truth we'd fall somewhere in upper midtable if there was a table for that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep. 2 of Man Utd's assists against Newcastle were from Newcastle passes!

You make your own luck and it’s to be expected that the best teams, with most territorial possession, see the most fortunate decisions in their favour.

Was always the case with United when we had the crap about biased referees etc. and it’s still the case with Liverpool.

posted on 27/12/19

i think sandy is confusing luck for talent.
liverpool have been relentless in games that seem close but could have over a lot earlier with some actual luck on their side.
they are the best team of the last year and a half by far and have no title to show for it yet.
win it this year and it's a huge step to joining the elite teams of the past.

Wasn't there a table drawn up for a couple of seasons ago that said Liverpool would have been 2nd rather than 4th if decisions were made correctly? Goes to show some teams get more luck than others. Clearly you cannot expect every team to get the same amount of luck. Some are going to get more, some are going to get less.

I’ve hated Liverpool since the late 70’s...rivalry and all that, when we were good once upon a time...

...but have to totally agree with the poster - if, they can keep this up and finish the season as they have started it, they’ll be the best team the Premier League have ever see - absolutely amazing in all departments

Yes, even better that Man City’s 100+ points team, and will be better than the Man Utd team of the mid/late 90’s - something I thought could never be said of any other team

Klopp has been a revelation, and he’s the main reason they Liverpool have been that good - they deserve all the plaudits they’re given

They are a good side, no doubt about that, but it is easy to build confidence and momentum when you play with 13 men every week.

Sure there are plenty of Pool fans from Liverpool, but more than half of them are just plastic glory supporters that jumped on the 70`s and 80`s bandwagon. These sad and weak individuals chose to take the easy way when picking which team to follow, they followed success probably to make up for other areas lacking in their lives.

It`s why you see so many Pool shirts, tracksuits and Nike Air max walking around in places such as Bristol, York and Coventry etc etc, places like that.

So a gan who started supporting Liverpool in the 70s and 80s is a gloryhunter after 40 years of being a Liverpool fan?

OK then.

Don't start justifying your support for Liverpool because of something some member of this site said. This plastics accusation is convenient for most simply because it takes the sting out of a lot of things if they can convince themselves its not coming from a real Liverpool fan.

Going on an online forum to speculate about other fans and calling them plastic and acting like you know them is a bit pathetic and only meant to console yourself.

Fact is you don't know anyone else's story and why they are a Liverpool fan and even if you do its just one or two fans, but they talk as if the site is flooded with plastics, its not.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Haha yes it facking isOr are we trying to claim that Pranks and his bunch of sissy disciples from the Loose Women thread are all dyed in the wool redmen from the north west heartlands. Nah, facking plastics to a man son, let’s at least say it as it is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You don't know that. You're just forcing the issue to console your aching heart. If it makes you sleep well at night then crack on but none of the loose women care what a bitter caaant who feels the need to announce it to the world every time he attends a game says.

"Oooo look at me, I went to one game this year and could have gone to more games but couldn't be arsed"

Pathetic.
