We now have a stadium but struggling for 4th like we were 10 years ago. Football has been pretty abysmal. Daniel Levy continues to keep an eye on net spend and with Mourinho's appointment there really is no project in sight.
=============

They say, in life, transition is the hardest thing to live through and do it

Like when you move from one area to another. Or possibly the biggest one and one of the most stressful, when you divorce and transition from being with someone to being alone. The next chapter as it were.
So I am not surprised that you feel the way you do.
I am savvy to it now, but I used to find it hard to cope with such feeling.
We are now at the start of building a side not just for top 4, but silerware too.
Unfortunately, the new manager started the task after the season started, so missed pre-season with the players. Hopefully, he'll have time soon enough with the fixtures etc being kinder in end of Jan, beginning of Feb to get some serious work with these players, and maybe with new players?

Jose has already got the side up the tables and almost in touching distance of CL. He has inherited a side that had some serious defensive issues and these now take precedence.
You can't win games if you concede silly games constantly.
I think I saw enough positivity against Norwich. Like Ndombele. He's going to be immense for us. Lo Celso was good too. As was Lucas and Lamela.
It's time like these a fan earns their "fanship". It's when it's tough that you need to show your support

its clear more investment is needed in the team, but there is no way that the players we have should be doing so badly defensively. that is an entirely separate issue.

Fans who blamed Pochettino for certain things are now defending Mourinho for the same. Total madness.

but as an outsider it is difficult to pin point where it has gone wrong.

Think its pretty clear where it went wrong, not adding any reinforcements for 18 months and selling your best midfielder for 10 million

You leak more goals than with Poch, you just score more to win 3-2 or draw 2-2

Im sure that feeling will come back, probably just a bit of a hangover coupled with a change in expectation.

In terms of regressing on the pitch if yiu look at Spurs signings for the last FOUR seasons and that's your answer.

Yeah how do you feel we felt when only ten years ago we nearly went bust, signed Roy fecking Hodgson as manager, having just lost Mascherano and Torres, then Hodgson signed bloody Koncheskey, Poulsen and Joe Cole, whose only moment of note was getting sent off on his bloody debut.

Things change in football very quickly and you'll get the love back. You're still in with a chance of CL at least.

The best side we've had in recent years was the side that came second to Leicester in the Prem.
Since then, and the sale of Walker, the team has been in a slow but steady decline.
It has aged.
Now it is a team "in transition".
At least 6 of the regular first eleven should be gone by next next season.
And then we can see what Levy buys, and
whether Mourinho stays.
As an old time Spurs fan I can tell you this is "Deja Vu all over again."

As for the current season,...... all may not yet be lost. This is a squad that can still beat top teams on its day.
It might win something, maybe. ....

Polite reminder: you came third.

I've reached breaking point. If it wasn't for the ticket exchange I wouldn't be renewing my season ticket.

We have the most expensive tickets in world football and in return the club spend like we're a midtable club. Levy has said the stadium won't affect spending, so either he is lying or he is happy to starve the club of on field investment.

We have now sacked the key to our success and are left with a squad which Poch said needed an overhaul for the last two years and now have a short term manager who is finished at the top level.

My only hope is that when we don't get champions League football ENIC will either fack off or actually invest in the squad.

To not buy (or at least have lined up) a DM and RB in January clearly shows they just don't give a fack. We are playing with championship level players in that position, anyone who has an Inkling about football can see that without upgrading these positions now we will continue to struggle, but nothing will be done about it.

Yes in became mathematically impossible to win the title, the team just lost interest. Third or second isn’t like coming first. That team was above most teams 👍
And it was achieved on a budget too!

footballers and officials are t0ssers, some of the new rules are a joke, the inconsistency of decisions and painful commentary/punditry/coverage.

Var is also a facking shambles and makes going to games a lot less appealing.

Agreed. My club is no longer a "weekend look forward to" thing.

Like others I now dread watching them live, or on the tv for fear of what calamity will happen next.

I have even broken a lifelong rule and now bet against them, as it usually helps my acca.

Sadly I feel out of love of going to games quite a while ago and twice a season is more than enough.. Mrs does not understand why I watch every game still as it just depressing waste of 90 minutes... I'll give levy this window and the summer one to sort things but if he dont invest then we are finished as a top 4 team.... Spurs just make you feel shiiiiit 90% of the time.. 30 yrs of being let down and you have utd Liverpool and arsenal fans bleating about their teams. You caaants have won plenty
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeo, if only these clubs had the same amount of years literally winning f** all. Spurs let you down time and time again. CL final - let down. What an opportunity that was, never again.

lol and they say players are fickle. We have no right to be top 4 every season. It's the Premier league. Just because we have a shiny stadium doesnt give us any special right.

Everyone thinks making noise and capacity means points. Talk of making Spurs a fortress. Jokes and dreams. Committed footballers and skill make a stadium a fortress not banging drums.

The key for me is making the most of our resources. I dont believe Poch or Jose (give him time) is doing this.

Poch benched Ndombele regukarly and refused to change formation to allow all our best players on the pitch.

Jose is gradually realising who his best players are. We could all tell him that Sissoko and Winks and Dier midfield doesnt work.

we all know Vertonghen is too slow for LB
we all know Aurier needs a disciplined position not a roaming RB/RM/RW which is what he is playing now.
we all know Lucas struggles against teams that play a low block or sit back so he is usually more effective away from home or when the game has become more open.
we all know Kane shouldn't play every minute of most games and should get subbed IF he is looking tired.

I have yet to see Poch or Jose appreciate all this in the last 18 months. I blame the coaches as much as I blame the club but it's not a question of in or out of love just missed opportunities and tactics.

It's shat being a spurs fan ain't it ? ,does anyone watching us at the moment have any idea as to what our tactics are under Jose as I can't figure them out .

It seems that his gone from parking the bus to letting it go to auto pilot and crash.

I’m quite happy with my team right now

Regarding the OP I don’t take it that seriously any more. Things like family etc take precedence over a bunch of pampered millionaires.
The game has changed dramatically in the last 20 years where players used to be seen as “one of us”, they are now for the most idiotic celebrities
