Enough with the Nketiah story, it's over, he was simply not good enough or committed enough to make it with LUFC. Who cares if he turns into the next Messi? He won't though, the boy thinks he is much better than he is. Ben White, though, could well be the next Baresi. Outstanding today against a dangerous West Brom front line.

Ok Commander...you're the boss!
Not going to be easy getting someone reputable in.
Knowing they will be more than likely playing a bit part
If Bamford gets injured, we’re knackered really. Selling Roofe was terrible business, because I can’t see us getting a Bamford back up in jan now. We need players gelled and fit enough for Bielsaball already.
I would honestly turn to the u23 now and get Edmonson some game time off the bench.
Loaning Eddie was very short sighted and poor business by the club.
We have to be more prepared than this.
Outstanding today against a dangerous West Brom front line.
----
Even thought he was ineffective for their goal I would agree.
As mentioned earlier, studio pundits were saying the club will clearly have contingency plans in place in case Eddie goes back.....the trouble is this is Leeds, we never seem to have a back up plan, remember Orta's comments about having no plan B is James didnt sign.
We've been talking about Eddie potentially going back for a month now and same with Clarke, the club, if it going to do any business has to do it early rather than when Bamford gets injured.
Its ironic that Kinnear hides behind the excuse of stability and not wanting to disrupt the squad yet its our team selection that has caused this issue now and the club has to solve the coach/DOF gap in terms of inbound transfers actually meeting the right requirements.

Too right NJS!
Wetherby, Roofe wanted out, so it wasn't terrible business at all. Was Roofe really worth a massive contract upgrade for playing second fiddle to Bamford?
Agree with All the Bielsa - Nketiah isn't good/professional/mature enough for what Bielsa required of him. Proved it again tonight, even starting. Hope Orta's got something on the go...
Agree with Jonty's final point: if WBA are the best of the rest, we've nothing to fear - but fear itself.
and I'm disappointed with only the one point...
Think Kiko gets some unfair stick, he comes out at times when he shouldn't, but is that down to the fact that we are weak aerial and struggle to win headers? We lost 2/3 headers for the goal yesterday alone.
Jaz63
Roofe wanted out? First I'm hearing about that.
Him and Bamford would have played big parts between them, Roofe could play as a lone striker.
Very poor business now this loan deal didn't work out. We had an experienced player we sold for a 3m loan for a kid with zero experience.

Nothing made up, those are your own words. If you weren’t convinced he was what we needed why did you hope we had him all season?
Wetherby, agree the Nketiah deal stinks. Regarding Roofe, my understanding is that he'd entered the last year of his contract and was hanging out for parity of terms with Bamford. When the club declined to comply, he went looking elsewhere.
I liked Roofe and thought he made an excellent contribution to Bielsa's first campaign - when he was fit for selection (he had two longish periods of injury last year, no?)
On the whole though, Roofe is physically too small, too old, and not fast enough. On the one hand he made a really smart move getting out of the UK but on the other, leaving a club like Leeds and a coach like Bielsa at this point in our history seems crazy.
Wish we could stop talking about Roofe now because he has gone and Bamford is much the better player.
Hope Orta's got a rabbit or three in the hat...a striker, creative mid, experienced keeper are sorely needed.
Jaz can you stop obsessing on Roofe, he’s moved on, so should you....
Agree with the article 99% J-dog...
Overall I'm happy with a point

Roofe is 26, prime age for a striker.
"On the whole though, Roofe is physically too small, too old, and not fast enough. On the one hand he made a really smart move getting out of the UK but on the other, leaving a club like Leeds and a coach like Bielsa at this point in our history seems crazy."
forgot to add, I could understand his move if he signed for a prem club but to leave the EFL to play in the Belgian Eredivisie? Fooking nuts! Note no other Championship clubs came in for him, let alone PL. Reckon he was after having some of the price/terms inflation that is currently wrecking the game where stupid money and terms are offered. Ironically enough, the club's willingness to splash five year deals around on a wing and a prayer have only exacerbated this situation. If it wasn't for Bielsa, I would be baying for Orta's blood, just like Jonty et al, but the Bielsa appointment redeems our crappy unbusinesslike management. Would love to see the back of Kinnear, for example.
And how we are not capitalising on the Centenary Year is beyond me, really.
YEP reports yank billionaire James Pallotta is sniffing. Has been running Roma for the past decade-ish and is now selling up for 900 mill. Fooking hope something like this happens because, much as I despise these moneymen for their crass capitalism, the game today demands investment on such a scale that even very wealthy individuals like Radz are powerless to invest enough, at the critical period, to bring success, as we saw last year and will see again this month.
Anyone in their right mind, following King Kenny's advice with regard to waking the last sleeping giant, would invest in signing permanently another striker, another creative mid to replace Pablo, another CB to replace Cooper (who I love but who isn't good enough) and an experienced keeper to cover for Kiko who will shortly be banned or whatever.
We need this investment NOW - and anyone with half a brain would be thinking about permanent signings that will remake the spine for if and when promotion is won, so there is some continuity for next year and we're not starting from scratch with a whole new team.
Jonty, you think I'm obsessing about Roofe? Curious. I am responding to several posters inc you who consistently refer wistfully to Roofe. Very curious spinning there, mate.

It's interesting the points made on players being too
physically lightweight with reference to such as
Nkitea and Roofe...generally the best strikers in the
world are physically lightweight from the era of
Jimmy Greaves to the present day of Varadi, Mane,
Salad, then their was such as Fowler, Owen and
many others.
My reading from yesterday is in the 1st half no one
played well, certainly not playing to Nkitea's advantage
but again he was singled out to prove some
preconceived ideas...why did Bielsa choose him over
Bamford in arguably are most important game so far
of the season...my guess is he would have thought
Eddie was more likely to score?
But it wasn't working clearly and there had to be a
change...Bielsa made a good decision and brought
on Bamford, fresh and raring to go...although as one
forum member who likes to rewrite history to his own
agenda made the point that Bamford in one minute
made more difference than Nkitea did in the whole
of the 1st half...well not really because immediately
he gave away a free kick that put our defense under
pressure...but to be fair Bamford played well and
made a difference...but the goal was lucky for him
and us, the ball was going wide, hit a defender and
changed direction...he could have won the game for
us but again he's not a natural finisher and instead of
squaring the ball to a colleague chose to shoot.
In my opinion Leeds need a better finisher than
Bamford if promoted.

Reading this thread (agree with Jonty btw) I can't see the term 'FFP' anywhere, unless I missed something. Bearing in mind we are committed to £15m for Costa in the summer and signing Harrison permanently will be north of £10m plus our high wage bill, would further acquisitions not leave us exposed to FFP rules? If we go up, there wouldn't be a problem but given our thin squad it only takes a few injuries and suspensions and a 9 point lead could quickly evaporate. It's a gamble but an expensive shopping list has to be carefully considered. A real stick or twist situation facing us.
