system or style of play that every top side must have and not one player seems to have improved during his tenure as manager

Fred and McTominay?

Moyes especially was hardly given time and some fans claimed that the job was "too big" for him.

........

Moyes was given a whole season but for four games.

He had two windows and bought in Fellaini and Mata.

McT is young and was improving anyway.

Fred has found some form, rather than improved.

If Moyes has smiled after defeat like Ole did last night he would have been torn apart more than Ole has been on here

Moyes also complained that the recruitment department weren't recommending players.

Probably why we ended up with those two.

Don't think it's got anything to do with OGS per se.

With all the other managers, we made the same mistake of wanting instant success and firing them when that obviously didn't happen.

I wouldn't mind who is in the job at the moment, we need to give them time to build their own squad and then judge them.

I'm happy with OGS and would give him at least another two windows.

We need to judge them as we see them and so far he’s failing

In our last 30 league games we’ve gotten 39 points

Less than Palace and Everton in that time frame. Same as Newcastle

2 managers of those clubs have been sacked in that timeframe

That is because no one liked Moyes. Apart from one pillock on here.

..he had a useless Woodward (even worse than now) to deal with. He got really hard done by.

Remember the Europa game where we played the youngsters?

They had a pattern of play. Quick short passes, forward balls. But then they've been coached by Butt not Ole. Still waiting to see this in the first team.

They certainly have. They would be even better with a creative midfielder to spot their runs (especially Rashford).

He's turning Rashford, and to a lesser extent, Martial into semi-descent players.

He's blooding our youth and giving game time to Greenwood and Williams, integrating them into the team.

Both Fred and McTominay, whilst neither are world class, are playing a lot better than previously.

He's getting rid of the dead wood we've all been saying need to be out of United.

Defence needs work. DDG has been poor.

Just need to look at SAF's first few seasons in charge of United. Imagine if we had sacked him..

Moyes failed quite obviously because he had a mindset of a midtable club which manifested itself in his chosen tactics (endless blind crosses) and mentality (aspiring to be ManCity, not having a mustwin mentality every game)

LVG had the right tactical and mental mindset (dominant possession based football and his philosophy so to speak) and was extremely focussed on development by not getting first team replacements to leave spots for talented youngsters on the bench. He ultimately failed because of this (injury mania and lack of quality) and poor recruitment (he has a very bad track record with south american/older players who don't fully buy into his philosophy)

Mou actually had considerable succes with his strategy, ie. throwing money at the problem. But reality taught him this only gets you this far as Man City is much better at throwing and has more rocks to throw

I'm not a fan of OGS as a trainer, but I recon he should be given more time to build the squad IF you also believe in the long term strategy chosen by the club, which is to develop (English) youngsters into world class players yourselves and buy some ready made 'world class' players (Pogba, Maguire) to support them.

I personally believe that is the right strategy and think Utd would be alot further along this project if LVG had gotten more time and a good TD (not Woodward) made recruitments that avoided the trainers weaknesses.

It’s pointless bringing up SAF as they’re different people. You may as well bring up a manager who was given time and failed. Completely different situations

Any midfielder playing at the top level should be able to spot runners. Otherwise they are no better than sunday league level.

Plus SAF had a tremendous record with Aberdeen splitting up the big two and some fabulous players, anybody making this comparison is seriously deluded

He must be doing something right, as they are pretty much on for 35 league goals between them, despite Martial being injured for 8 weeks or so. Remember how you laughed at that suggestion?
